Hi all i became a proud owner of a 2004 A6 2.0 TDI SE, it had 113k on the clock, and full history set at every 19k intervals, it was a Birthday present and a thank you present from my Daughter and Son in law, back in July, it came with the Bose sound system fitted, and the rear glass tinted, since owning it i have upgraded  the wheels to le mans 18 inch, had it serviced as it was just about due, fitted new brake pads, fitted new rear lenses, originals cracked and full of water, and i have had it remapped, still got a few things left to do to it, but the current one is a electrical fault, the windows was slow, they also wouldnt work and had to use the full closure system on the fob, to close them,  i would put fuel in and the gauge would not move and the car kept telling me to refuel, if i disconnect the battery everything was fine and working again, I took it to my mechanic who is a 20 year Vag master tech, he hooked it up to his computer and it came up with electric power module defective, the one behind the fuses drivers side, so i bought one for £50.00 of Flea bay and he fitted it, everything has been fine until tonight, as i put some fuel in it, i started it up and please refuel after that annoying beep came on lol,

so i phoned my mechanic he couldnt believe it, he said lift the rear seat and bang the floor to eliminate a stuck float, but it did not work, so i disconnected the battery and reconnected it, and it worked with no problems further, i shall take it to the Mechanic tomorrow, and he can hook it up to his software and see what is going on, absolutely love the car and i have already covered 3,000 miles in it, this is one car that will stay with me for the rest of my life, just because of the sentimental value attached to it alone.

Hi Dean...welcome to the forum!

I would personally suspect the battery, I'm sure that your mechanic has checked it but if a heavy discharge test is carried out and the battery falls below the levels I would replace it with a quality battery.

Let us know how you get on with it

Regards   Trevor
