lumpy when starting

Hello everyone, 

i have had my AUDI A3 TDI about 6 weeks and i have had a few problems when starting not always but sometimes, if i do not put my foot flat down on the accelerator it sometimes struggles to start and even when it does start its a bit lumpy but if i do not do this it really struggles to start, and if  i miss it on the first turnover it really struggles the 2nd time when it eventually does it smokes a lot can anyone help please.

Hi Mark...welcome to the Forum

Is it only when starting the engine from cold start or when the engine is warm/hot?

Sounds like it could be glow plugs on the way out if starting from cold

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for your reply, i think i have found the problem there was a plastic lid off the air intake i put it back on and it seems to have resolved the issue.

i do have a totally unrelated issue which is very annoying , i will start a new thread have a look and see if you have any ideas
