Smudger Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Hi, I got a fault message on my A6 indicating that the key battery needed replacing. I did that, and still get the same message. However it has now stopped synchronising with the car at all. I can unlock manually and get the car started by placing the key against the nominated spot on the dashboard I've seen some videos online where earlier models can be resynchronised using the spare key in the ignition - but because my car has keyless ignition these other methods don't work. Any thoughts on how to do this for a newer model? Theres a chance the fault lies with the key itself of course...
Audi Owners Club. Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Hi Martin...welcome to the Forum I cannot find anything specific to the synchronisation of the fob to the 2014 model car but this link may contain some information that may be relevant.
Smudger Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Thanks - I think the key design changed for the 2014 model; there isn't an ignition to insert it into, for example. I've had a fiddle along these lines but can't make anything work. Now my second key is reporting needing a new battery and I daren't replace it.
Audi Owners Club. Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Maybe best to take it to an independent VW Audi specialist who can change the battery and re-synch your other key....would be a cheap job I would imagine.
