Nicky1873 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Hi guys, Quick question can I replace my single din system for a double din unit if I move the heating/AC console down? It looks like I'll need to replace the AC with a different model but I should be able to get one cheap enough. Basically I need to know if I do that will the double din unit fit in the space? Any help or advice please. Thanks
Audi Owners Club. Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Hi Marc....welcome to the Forum Have a look at what these guys offer in the way of replacements http://www.iceboxauto.com/audi Keep us updated on how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
Nicky1873 Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 Thanks Trevor Iong time reader, first time poster. I'll have a look still want to know if it'll fit my console if I buy a different AC unit that's fit at the bottom (see pic) I'm probably making this as clear as mud but hopefully someone understands 😀
Audi Owners Club. Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Sorry Marc...didn't read your post properly first time. Not sure about relocating the AC panel but maybe someone has done this mod before?
McLaughlin2226 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Marc, if you haven't already sorted this, I seem to remember watching a YouTube video on how to do this as I was looking into doing it myself. It can be done, but you need a new double din frame that replaces the single din frame in the centre console, the A/C panel can either be modified by filing down the sides or replace with another unit.
