MNF
I have always wanted a Quattro since seeing them rallying around and thought it is about time I purchased my next car with that wonderful sounding name. Are there any buyers guides to buying a A4 Quattro? I am looking to get one that is around 2006/07/08? I have seen a few that say FSH with between 70-90k on the clock. Will the Quattro handle being a daily runner and does the pigment in red paint still turn red cars pink?? I was going to get a diesel A4 that does 60+ mpg, but with new legislation being cooked up and banning diesels from some citties (screwed if they include Manchester) I thought it best to stick with petrol. Thanks for any advice
Trevor
The A4 Quattro is indeed a superb car and I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with it. I will look around to see if there are any buyers guides for the car, but if not you'll be best looking for one with full service history from either main dealer or specialist repairer who has replaced the fluids (especially the AWD system fluids) and filters, etc when or even before they were due. I'm sure that such cars exist but you may have to search for some time to get the right one. Red paintwork is always prone to fade if not kept polished and sealed with a good quality wax product. I've always felt like going out in the middle of the night and polishing half of a faded bonnet on someone's car just for the reaction :-) Petrol may be the way forward and could even consider LPG conversion for improving the cost per mile. Good luck with your search

stu
I just purchased se s line quattro last week full audi service history just so that i new it had been looked after properly as its my daily runner. If your concerned about mpg go for the diesel but if you love to drive then it has to be the petrol either way they are great cars as for the red fading as far as i know it still happens to a certain degree but good wax should reduce the risk and if nothing else a good t cut will refresh it
rbdazza
If you're going to get a diesel go older or newer. Or make sure you get one that has had a rebuild or at least the oil pump sorted. Ignore this advice at your peril lol
