Good morning to you all

i am new to the forum and was looking for some help/advice please.

i have had my Audi A8 into Audi for a suspension issue and after 5 months and £1300( new ecu fitted)  I am no further forward.

i have taken the car out of Audi as they have suggested replacing the suspension pump. This didn't make sense to me as the car lifts and drops correctly it just cannot remember it's default setting. Audi will not confirm that this will fix the problem and the suspension pump is £1200 plus fitting. After requesting some sound technical advice/ logic as to why they think this is the cause the answer I get is this is the next step but we cannot confirm this will fix the problem. I have asked Audi customer services for their help but they act as more of a go between/ mediator as opposed to finding a technical solution or being able to try the part before charging me which I thought may have been possible.

The time scale has been ridiculous which is prodominatley due to the fact they are just too busy and their diagnosis process seems to be more guess work as there are no fault codes just a suspension yellow light that is sometimes on whilst driving and sometimes not. When illuminated the car is driving with the suspension raised slightly.

i am trying to find a recommendation of a Audi specialist in my local area of Reading, Maidenhead or Slough who may be able to help.

Thank you for listening

Hi Peter....welcome to the Forum

It sounds very much like there is an unusual fault that being difficult to diagnose does not allow much profit from the repair so I can see why the dealer is quite reluctant to break into a sweat to fix it. Its a case of either throwing huge money at replacing lots of components in the hope that they fall over the fault at some point.

If it was my car, I would probably live with the fault if it doesn't have a hugh effect on the handling, etc.  I don't think replacing the pump would resolve the issue, however, there could be a leak on one of the air suspension units which could throw up the fault but without codes...possibly?

Keep us updated on what you find with this fault

Cheers  Trevor

Hi Trevor

thank you for the response.

Audi checked for leaks and apparently if you leave the vehicle over night in the raised position any leak would show itself with the suspension lowering on the shock that was leaking?

Unfortunately need to get fixed so trying to find a recommendation of a good specialist if possible

thank you again

Hi Peter

Have you tried whocanfixmycar.com ? I've used them once and found a specialist that I'm always going to use now :)
