LinusIT Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Hi all, I bought an Audi A3 2.0TDi 170 DSG a few months ago and have been having problems since picking it up. I have researched the issue but haven't found many conclusive posts so thought I'd join and see if anyone can offer some advice. In slow moving traffic, say 5-10mph, in D or S it is neigh on impossible to maintain a steady speed without the car majorly kangarooing, even taking my foot off the accelerator doesn't stop it, it carries on. The only way I have found to drive in slow traffic is to have it in manual mode. Another problem which I'm certain is related to the gearbox as well is it does not coast at all, it slows down quite rapidly by itself. Even going down a decent hill at 70mph doesn't make any difference, it still slows down, my other cars don't do this. Lastly it doesn't hold on a hill, couple this with the fact the car won't crawl makes it really difficult to keep a steady pace moving up a hill. I've had the car on a ramp today to get the brakes looked at, which appear fine. Whilst off the floor, we turned the front wheels (gearbox in N) back and forth can could hear clunking and minor grinding noises from the gearbox area. I don't have access to vag com but can get the codes read by a friend who has all the Snap On kit. Thank you in advance
Audi Owners Club. Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Hi Danny....welcome to the Forum By what you are saying and especially when you mentioned the clunking and grinding noises I would say that it sounds very much like the gearbox is faulty. Probably best to drive it to an Automatic Transmission specialist to look at it. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
