Hi all

Picked up my first German car on Friday being an A3 1.8TFSI Black Edition, Sportback after previously buying Peugeot/Citreon motors and being into the old modifying lark in my younger years. Small amounts still sit with me now, don't think it ever leaves you! But was time to chop the old car in and get something a bit more practical with more doors, but still with a bit of fun to it.

So far I'm loving it! So smooth and quiet to drive which wouldn't have been hard coming from a 13 year old 206GTi with a noisy aftermarket exhaust! Only thing I was surprised at is little things like auto wipers and lights not being a standard considering I had them on my old car. But I'll get used to that and love how bright the headlights are on this!

Will be keeping this pretty stock, apart from I'll be debadging the rear soon. Considering upgrading the stereo to something I can bluetooth directly to, currently got a bluetooth auxillary dongle which is doing the trick for now. Have been really impressed with the Bose speakers though! The idea of a stage 1 remap and a RS3 style mesh front grill also sound appealing, but we'll see.

Anyway, hi from me!

Hi Adam

Welcome to the forum!

Love the red, looks good on the A3's  and you've done a give just to an Audi from Peugeot/Citroen.

I too am some what into modding, I'd like a remap too but haven't got Bose speakers I do have a 1200w which kicks a punch haha  and theres a lot of things that didn't come standard that now is standard but hay it's Audi right? , Happy to have you on board!

Regards

Bradley

Thanks! Yeh, I think the red with those wheels really looks nice. Havent seen that many in red either, tend to see alot of black, whites and silvers.

Aye, like most of the premium German cars, make you pay for it until they have to include it lol! Wifes Mini has been the same.

Welcome to the forums, a stage 1 re map is a must, to help with the fuel economy and maybe get the software up to date, thats what I told my wife...

How was the GTi? I had driven teh older 205 and it was a blast, whats the new one like?

Thanks! I was thinking maybe Revo as they seem to be tried and tested unless theres any others recommended?

I'd say it was more of a 'warm hatch' than a hot hatch. It had a bit of poke, but it just didnt have that fun factor that say my old Saxo VTR did. I wanted the VTS or 106GTi but insurance at the time for my age was ridiculous so got the VTR, but that was still a fun car which I still miss :-) I've always loved the 205's to. DId you have the 1.6 or 1.9?

I had the REVO stage 1 as it was on sale before xmas seemed to do ok with it. I had heard the new GTi was not all that but it had a lot of ground to cover over the old one and the otehr hot hatches.

My friend had the 1.9 and I drove it a few times, damn that thing was low to the ground! But it cornered real well round the country roads!!

Have you found it better to drive and with any fuel improvements? I think the 180bhp version after mine was a bit better, but mine was the older 138bhp. It wasn't terrible or anything but just didn't have the same fun factor as my old Saxo did.

I'll bet! The Saxo was lowered 50mm and it cornered well! Although wasnt overly practical with speed bumps or high kerbs, forever scraping the front bumper or grinding the exhaust! Nearly grounded myself a few times! Dont judge me on the mods, I was young! :wink3:
