Envy Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Haven't had the pleasure of changing the Tyres on my A6 yet - 245 45 18's but ran same size on previous car and Found Uniroyal Rainsport a cracking option. Colleague used to run them on his A6 and prefered them. 2
Trevor Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 Haven't come across Uniroyal in years...didn't know they still made them
Envy Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Cracking tyre wet and dry and at around £115 a corner fitted not bank breakingly expensive. Changed the way my Insignia drove significantly eliminating tracking on overbanding etc. Rainsport3 the latest iteration. Living in the Area of the home of Avon Tyres (Cooper Tires) I should show loyalty to them - have run Avons on Motorcycles for years though. Will consider Avon come the time to change as they are very well reviewed... 1
Trevor Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 Thanks for the review....it's sometimes too easy to just consider the big boys and not remember the other equally good brands out there.
Dan3222 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Another vote for Uniroyal rain sport contact 3 from me too. These are the best tyres I have come across for the temperate climate we live in. When I first got the A6 it had dunlops on the rear and Pirelli on the front. It handled terribly and the back end would slide out on roundabouts while following Miss Daisy in a Micra. Put the Uniroyals on and now I could overtake Miss Daisy on the inside of said roundabout if wanted to. Best compramise on grip, longevity and price in my book. Run them on the T5 too. Have voted for Michelins though as I run the Alpins over winter, superb tyres too.👍 2

Fatbloke Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Currently have 16" Continental WinterContact TS860 tyres on the A3 for the winter. Have used the 830 and 850 tyres on other vehicles for several years and they have been really good too. Have used Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on other vehicles for several years. Will put a set on the A3 in the spring.
Steve Q Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 I've always used Bridgestone tyres are n my a6, as did my dad. He felt they were the best brand of Tyre for the a6 c5 :)
Magnet Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Hello folks, The family A3 (ordinary 1.6) will be needing tyres shortly and I was interested in the recommendations of the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 on here. Had Uniroyals on a BMW in the past and was very happy with them. Looked them up, and they seem to be a lot cheaper than some of the premium makes - so good news there - but there are quite a number of reviews which point to them not lasting well wear-wise. Wondered what the experience was on here regarding wear rates. This owned-from-new car was always run on Michelins until the last pair when I put a pair of Cinturato s on due to the Michelins being noisy (no other reason). Current indications are that these are not going to give the service life of the Michelins. Perhaps I should point out that we are now at the driving style where a high emphasis on roadholding during enthusiastic driving is not important. Would be very grateful for any been there done it experiences. Many thanks and kind regards, Gareth.
