ralosc Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Can anyone help with some advice on fitting some depo aftermarket xenon headlights to a B7 A4? I have purchased the headlights, and the bulbs including D1S bulbs for the dipped beam. These are supposed to be a straight swap that will convert my non xenon A4 into having xenon headlights My question is regarding a ballast- the aftermarket headlights have a connector which plugs into the D1S bulb- then it looks like the other end of this connector comes out the other side and needs to be connected to a ballast? Is this ballast something I need to purchase? I don't suppose my standard non xenon Audi lights have a standard ballast already I'm supposed to swap over? Thanks in advance
Callum929 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 No the ballast is seperate and can be very costly as far as I remember
ralosc Posted March 5, 2017 Author Posted March 5, 2017 Does anyone know the part numbers for the ballasts needed?
Trevor Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 There are some listed here http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/A4-S4-RS4/Headlight-Assemblies/44240
rbdazza Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 shouldnt be too expensive second hand, but yes you'll need the ballast. it wont be fitted to a non xenon car 1
ralosc Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 I have now got all the required parts and fitted this today. All is working fine apart from the main beam. I have connected the kufatec harness and routed the 2 extra wires to the connector in the drivers footwell. I have also coded the central elec module with vagcom to xenon. When operating the main beam- instead of using the main beam bulbs, it's using the dipped beam and changing the height aiming them upwards. This only works to flash the main beam, if you turn the main beam onto constant it just flashes the dipped beam as above then goes back to normal dipped. The main beam bulbs don't turn on. Any ideas?
