EGR Blanking my 2005 A3

I have am aware that i can put blanking plates on my 05 2.0 TDI A3 EGR valve however am i able to do this without a remap or will it go in to limp mode without this can somebody help me please?

blank it. it won;t go into limp mode but will flag a fault light on your dash. when you have some extra dosh get it re-mapped to remove the light and give you some more ooooomph
