Cleaning pillars surrounding windscreen

What's the best way to tidy up/clean the pillars surrounding the windscreen on a cabriolet? Can you use metal polish? Or do they have a coating that could become damaged?

I think the metal polish like Solvol Autosol may be a bit abrasive....could try something like Brasso, less abrasive but just as effective

Try white vinegar, it did most of it for me
