Marky4787
Hello there my name's Mark and I recently purchase an Audi A6, I got the car in December last year from Car-giant, I was looking for the right one for just over 2 months, when I saw this come up on there site I was the first to see it, test drive it then buy it, It had only 31000 miles on the clock with the latest service being done at 27000 miles Car details Audi A6 Special Edition (LeMans) 2.0TDI now with 33500 miles 7 speed auto Audio is the MMI 3G low Since buying it I have added a few little extras Front S-line badge for the grill Lemans badge for the rear Audi 12v blank for the rear instead of cigarette lighter Audi LED number plate bulbs (no warning error on dash with these Vagcom and changed/added a few extras like... Gauge sweep onscreen reverse sensor location Scandinavian light setting....so the rear Led lights are on with DRL Lap timer Boost gauge Hidden menu Seat belt warning...I always wear my belt but at my work I have to get out to open a gate and there's no point putting the belt on to drive 20 yards after that Latest work...as of yesterday had the car fully serviced and cambelt and water pump changed all with genuine Audi car parts from a local garage I have used for years You may ask why I got the belt done as I think the book suggest's it being changed at 114000 or something, really it was just for peace of mind as I've always had belts done at either 60000 of 5 years and as this is 7 years old now I felt it was a must Changed the H11 fog bulbs this morning to match the LED's a bit more with the coming home lights Booked into Audi for the emission update next week also a free health check Now picture's From the website before I brought it Hope you like
Steve Q
Welcome to the forum Mark, from a fellow A6 owner :) you've done some neat mods to your a6 :) cheers Steve
Marky4787
Thanks Steve, looking at maybe getting an S6 grill for it next but not sure yet, I'm hoping there just a straight swap then make it able to have an S-line badge rather then a S6 badge, private plate is definitely on my list as well
Steve Q
I would imagine the grills are a straight swap but I'm unsure about the badge. Are you intending to fit any other s6 goodies or lower it?
Marky4787
I would like little bits like RS pedals and gear knob but they are quite pricey, not planning on lowering I find the ride very bumpy as it is with the low profile tyres, interested in a remap mainly for better fuel if possible and obviously extra power would be a bonus, but don't want to rush into that without reading other people's reviews
Steve Q
Nice to see you've got some good/subtle plans :) don't know whether you've seen the info on the Audis in the park event which is happening on Sunday 13th august at Deenes park in Corby, Northamptonshire. Just wondering if you'd be interested in displaying your a6 at the event? We have 3 members so far but need 12 for the display. Cheers Steve
Trevor
Hi Mark...welcome to the Forum That's a very fine car you have there. Good philosophy about the cambelt, but have you read the pro's and mainly con's of getting the emissions update done on your car? Good to have you onboard Cheers Trevor
Marky4787
I have read up about it but theirs mixed reviews, some say they haven't noticed any change and some saying they have, to be honest I'm not really sure what they are going to do to it, the letter is very vague, I'd like to think it will run better and smoother? an adviser from Audi are ringing me tomorrow about it so I'll make sure to ask lots of questions about it and if he seems unsure I wont bother as the car runs fine and I have no bother. Thanks

Thanks To be honest Mark I wouldn't bother having it done and It's not compulsory for it to be done. I say that as iv worked in a Volkswagen service department. On most cars it was just a software update but on certain engines certain parts had to be added such as vibration dampers. The reason why I say not is because before the emissions update is done, a diagnostic check has to be completed. And from a diagnostic check you could be given horrible news that your car needs a new egr valve and cooler even if the car is running fine with no lights on the dash. If that makes sense. This was all too common at Vw. The emissions update cannot be completed if there are issues with the egr. On the other hand if you do have it done you should get a certificate to show its been completed which you can show the next owner when you come to sell the vehicle. Hope iv helped cheers Steve

Marky4787
Just thought I'd update on my progress with the A6 Not posted in a while but have done a few little jobs to the car I always hated the way the brakes looked all the calipers had surface rust and just looked nasty, so one weekend I jacked it up took all brakes apart cleaned them all up and put some heat proof silver on them, had lots of comments from friends asking "why didn't you paint them red" but I like the original look Also I have since got a private plate Didn't like the spacing so ordered another set Had it MOT'd few weeks ago flew through apart from steering rack boot split Want to refurbish the wheel's but going to wait till the tyres need replacing and get it all done together Really want a remap but just waiting really as it will be expensive and cant justify it to the wife yet Keep think about getting a light tint on all the windows but not sure how that will look, don't want them to dark not really a fan of black on black Anyway let know know what you think
