Jamieking86 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Hi I need a cigarette lighter socket for a 2009 Audi A3. I need the actual 12v socket that connects to the wiring system, it has 3 brass pins that connect to a white plastic connector. I have looked everywhere and can't find one. If anyone is breaking an Audi or could help where i could find one please pass me on. Thanks
Steve Q Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Hi Jamie, iv found these a3 being broken on eBay if they help. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262510176693 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262326662690 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252876393708 cheers steve
Jamieking86 Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 Hi Steve, thanks for your reply. I have clicked on each of the links and each says the item has been removed? I have managed to find the modeal number 8Z0919309 but the only ones i can find are £29.00+ I don't want to pay that as I'm not 100% sure if it is the socket or if it's faulty wiring that keeps blowing the fuse.
Steve Q Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 No worries :) hmmm, what do you use the cigarette lighter for? You could be overloading the socket. The wiring can't take a great level of voltage etc.
Jamieking86 Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 We've never used it mate as it's been faulty since we got the car. We bought a new fuse as we had noticed it had blown, as soon as we put the new fuse in, it blows straight away even without the cigarette lighter itself in. Second time I disconnected the socket completely, put the fuse in and it was fine, as soon as i connected the socket the fuse blew. So it's either a faulty socket, or dodgy wiring, hence why I don't want to spend £30 on one incase it's the wiring that's faulty.
Steve Q Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Gotcha! Truthfully I think the only way you'll know if it's the socket is by buying one. But like you said that's not something you necessarily want to do if it's the wiring. The other option is to go whole hog and replace both
