Dan3222 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 In the theme of 'what else do you drive', what are the ones that passed you by, wished you had bought or even worse - never sold. For me there's 1 I should have never sold, -My mk11 Scirocco. Only a 1.6 GL but I loved her. Silver and Pirelli P alloys. I sold her and she was in a smash 9 days later :-( And one I should have bought. -Number 10 of the first 12 built Jenson Interceptor, think it had a 7.2 ltr V8. I found out this was the UK promo car (1 of 2 from memory). It had Maserati door handles as Jenson didn't have the new ones in time to put on the cars. £50. Yep £50. It was quite rotten though, like a flintstones car feet on floor lol. I was too Yong and had no space to store it. I wonder what it would be worth today though back on the road? 1
Steve Q Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 My grandad had a 1984 Volvo 760gle turbo diesel which he bought new. It has covered 230,000 miles before being laid up on my uncles farm. In approx 2003/2004 I found it in a field and When I went back to see it some months later it had gone and my uncle had got rid of it. I regret not saving it as it was the only tangible item of my grandads who died before I was born. It was nothing special but meant a lot to me as i remember the car as a child. Sorry for the sob story lol 1
Dan3222 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Sob stories are good lol. Kind of the theory behind the thread. You have just reminded me of my wish to have a Volvo T5R in yellow. Do you remember them???

Dan3222 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Definately the saloon. I just loved them because when they came out the rozzers had to buy them because nothing else could keep up with them. Fastest allecerating car 30-70 mph or something like that wasn't it? BMW killer lol 1
Steve Q Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 And Volvo used an estate version in touring cars if I remember correctly
Trevor Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Great cars listed so far chaps...and can almost feel the memories being rekindled fondly. I think the only car I really regret getting rid off (to the 2nd ex-wife as divorce settlement) was my 1999 Rover 200 LE 'BRM' ... limited edition number 286 of 795.....really miss her! (the car not the wife!). Always used to be dirt cheap to buy, now can't find one for less than £2k 1

And that red quilted leather was gorgeous! Along with the green paint and orange grill! And finished off with nice wheels! Great car! 1
Dan3222 Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 There is one of those driving around up here Trevor. See it most weeks, though the rust is moving in on it a bit. I have always fancied a go in one of them and I bet they would make a good track day car!?!
Trevor Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 They are certainly instantly recognisable Dan3222 but shame about the rust...not many left now Great fun to drive with the VVC engine, close ratio box and a Torsen diff as standard :-)
Dan3222 Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Trevor, saw the racing green and orange insert Rover 200 yesterday. Not seen one in ages. It had white alloys though!?! 1
Baggy Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Before I had a car I rode bikes for 14 years. I had to give up because of arthritis starting in my ankle from injuries from a bike accident in 2007. It got to the point where I couldn't take the weight of the bike. This Yamaha FZ1 was the best bike I owned and I wish I still had it. It was soooo fast and comfortable at the same time. 1
Dan3222 Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Baggy, that was a beauty for sure. I have an early fireblade. Never ridden it though lol. 1

Dan3222 Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 That wasn't kind of the Idea for getting it, the fireblade I mean. Needs a light recommissioning and a clutch. One rainy day I will do it. I never had an XR3I but I did have an XR2I for a short while but Golf Mk1's are definately my favourite. A GP I used to know well had told me a little story, he bought a brand new Escort RS2000. After he had run her in for 500 miles he took her out one early Sunday morning on the M1 near Sheffield. He had it flat out sitting at about 105-110 mph (remember this was back in late 70's). He noticed a small black car way behind in his rear view mirror and thought nothing of it. 1 minute later this car was Almost right behind him so he pulled over into middle lane and a left hand drive GTI over took his RS2000 like it was just cruising at 70. He then took the RS back to Ford, got what he could get back financially and bought a GTI. :-) Ironically enough though I do not regret parting company with the XR2i though!!

Typo, not 'wasn't' but 'was' the idea behind the Fireblade.
