Stiffy Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 We've only had our new A4 Avant 1.4TFSi 5 weeks and done less than 900 miles in it. It broke down on Friday. My wife was driving it when it suddenly died on her about 150yds from home. She was stuck in the middle of the road on a bad bend with my 4 yr old child in the back and the car would not restart. The warning on the dash said: 'Drive System Fault. Please contact workshop'. After approx. 20 minutes it eventually re-started, she drove the car home and rang Audi Assist. After they'd arrived and inspected the car they asked her to drive it, followed by them, 10 miles to the nearest Audi Centre. The AA guy said it stank of fuel. I contacted the Service Department today to find out if the car had been looked at. They said they had found a fuel pressure fault and they will phone me on Monday. Anyone come across this before? It's really disappointing on a brand new car for this to happen not to mention that the circumstances could have been catastrophic if it had happened on a busier road or the motorway. Everyone at Audi Assist and the dealership has been fantastic but I'm seriously considering rejecting the car to be honest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Audi Owners Club. Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Hi John, sorry to hear you've had problems that early, however, it does sound like a one-off and maybe worth persevering with it. However, I would also get something in writing that if the same fault occurs again then you can reject the car based on a persistent unsolvable running fault (maybe?) Let us know how you get on with it
Steve Q Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Hi John, welcome to the forum:) sorry you've had issues already. Please keep us posted on how you get on. I find if you have a courtesy car they will be more inclined to get the car sorted as you have one of theirs. Sorry for the delayed response to your topic by the way. I'd missed the topic. Complete fault on my part. Cheers steve
Stiffy Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Just a quick update on what happened at the dealership. They kept the car a few days and ran various tests but couldn't find anything wrong other than a fault code for low fuel pressure but when tested everything checked out ok. Although they can't explain they're confident it's been a one off and is not something the engine in our car is known for. We've done about another 300 miles or so in the car since and had no repetitions of the same issue. I almost wish they had found something wrong and fixed it because my wife is now wary about driving it incase it happens again which I totally understand but I am hoping that her anxiousness will pass with time. Fingers crossed. 1
Brad-B5 Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Hi John Sorry I didn't say hi sooner! Sorry that you had a bad experience :( Frustrating they couldn't find anything, but hopefully it doesn't happen again, but as you learn the feel and sound of the car you'll maybe able to pick an unusual thing with it if it comes to that which hopefully it won't! Regards Bradley 1
