jammycodger Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Hi all - my engine warning light came on a while ago and it's been diagnosed as an "intake manifold runner fault (swirl flaps motor) possibly manifold" I'm going on holiday on Monday, driving hundreds of miles around the country. Would you say the car is safe to drive? What's the worst case scenario would you say? Apologies if this is a stupid question.
Steve Q Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Welcome to the forum Kieran :) youll find the members on here are a friendly bunch and will help you where they can :) what engine is in your a6? I'm assuming it's the 3.0tdi? I believe the intake manifold swirl flap issue is a common one. And I believe you can get a repair kit which costs approx £80. This issue is mentioned in the current issue of Audi Tuner magazine. As they are have a whole buyers guide on the a6 c6 3.0tdi. Might be worth you buying it :) in terms of worst case scenario I'm unsure to be honest. But if it were me I'd get it fixed and not run the risk. Having the car go into limp mode whilst on holiday would be a nightmare! Just make sure you have break down cover. Sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs! Cheers steve
jammycodger Posted June 16, 2017 Author Posted June 16, 2017 Steve, thanks so much, going to grab a copy of Audi Tuner today - and probably save myself a fortune with the repair kit. Yep - 3 litre tdi Thank you!

jammycodger Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Hi Steve - been trying to track down Audi Tuner but can't seem to get it. Did you mean Performance Audi magazine? Which issue was it?
Envy Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Mate had this on his 3.0 A6 Avant and this was the actuator ends that get slack throwing proximity warnings. It could be something more sinister but historically its the rod that causes this.... Take the car to any good Audi specialist and it's a quick if not a little awkward fix. Take it to a main dealer and I am sure they will write war and peace on an invoice. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/331488704759?chn=ps&dispItem=1&adgroupid=38976932050&rlsatarget=pla-349351665594&abcId=1128936&adtype=pla&merchantid=113578905&poi=&googleloc=9045634&device=c&campaignid=856327663&crdt=0
jammycodger Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 Great - thanks. You think it's worth me buying that part in advance or taking it to a specialist first? ie. do you think there's a high chance this is the problem?
