fast edd
Good evening boys n girls, a little common sense advice please!!. After the dreaded emissions update and a slightly rougher running 2010 A6 AVANT 170 I decided to Vag com my car ! This is a couple of months after the 189 update just to see what聽if anything was amiss and I have a P0674 Cylinder 4 glow plug fault 馃榾 . I have spoken with my local Vag specialist and they have said it would cost the same labour to change the one 聽all 4聽(if it is actually faulty ,but !! if 1 is faulty would it be sensible to change all 4 as we are looking聽聽at an electrical item and if 1 is at its end of shelf life the other 3 maybe approaching this abrupt end?? Kind regards in advance, also it's going to Poole Audi to be plugged in as I'm not happy with this update debacle/ rough running end product. . Steve Q
Hey Ed,聽 sorry to hear you had the update done.聽 With regard to the glowplugs, when were they last changed?聽 If they weren't changed recently my thoughts would be to change all 4. Especially if the garage are going to charge you the same labour time.聽 Hope iv helped :)聽 Cheers steve :)聽
fast edd
Hi Steve,聽 To my knowledge they have never been changed , bear In聽 mind the A6 is only on 70k , with regards to the EA189 update other than a little 聽more diesel 聽sounding its behaving alright really just not the same 聽as before the update so Audi uk can deal with it through my union solicitors if needs be! , somthing relating to the trade and desription act I believe.... The glow plugs are 拢18 each I think and im unsure if its cam cover off as they invoice 1 hr to complete ?? which seems along time . Do the newer tdi engines still have this silly set up ???. Its a CAHA engine....聽 Kind regards Edd.
Steve Q
Hmm in which case if it were me I'd change them all.聽 What some owners are doing is having their engine ecu remapped to removed the ea189 and to improve the drivability of their Audis :)聽 might be worth you looking into in the future :)聽 iv worked in a Volkswagen service department and from what iv seen I would not have the update done. I saw cars with dpf issues, egr/egr cooler issues and聽one car died.聽 To be honest Edd im聽not sure which set up you have. Sorry. But I assume your garage must have a minimum labour time/rate?聽 Cheers steve
