gus0898uk Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Hello audiownersclub from a newbie. I have a 1999 A8 2.8 Sport auto 57K only. I have owned the car for nearly 2 years now, but have a couple of probs which I hope the board may help me with. First the wipers sometimes come on when the ignition is switched on and do not stop as they should, also the rear nearside passenger window opens half way on its own accord sometimes. OK, I know its 3 :) but the car is booked in for an electronic check next week, quite often if I am turning left or right the revs go completely shutting down the engine, this can be dangerous if someone is on your tail, the strange thing is if I come to a dead stand , say at a crossroads the engine keeps running, I have now started to drop down the auto gears to the lowest to keep the engine going, once around the corner then back into D. TIA Gus0898uk
Steve Q Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Welcome to the forum Paul :) nice to see another member from Leicester! :) you have chosen a lovely car and have brilliant mileage on it! The a8 is a gorgeous car! :) sorry to hear your having issues but I do know of a very good auto electrician in Melton Mowbray who I'd recommend if your chap is unable to fix the faults. Im unsure what could be causing the steering/engine issue as I believe the a8 had hydraulic steering. The window could be a faulty window motor or I would say more likely the switch is at fault. This would bbe the same for the wipers I suspect. Hope iv helped :) cheets steve
gus0898uk Posted June 27, 2017 Author Posted June 27, 2017 Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum Steve, I suspect my window and wiper problem is a switch problem but i can tolerate them for the time being. I will bear in mind your contact at Melton if I cannot resolve my probs, probably nip into Dckinson and Morris as well. :)

I live in syston :) let me know how you get on as il give you my auto electricians details. I'm away at the moment so don't have the details to hand. But I used him last week to wire up some fog lights and spot lights to my old Ford escort. He had to make up a new wiring loom! The guy previously worked in the RAF as an electrician on planes. So he is good and he fully tests the systems once he has fixed or installed them! Now that is a good shout! ;) you can't beat a proper pork pie! ;) cheers steve
