Beaker190 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Hi Bought an A4 S-line black edition 2.0 TDI 64 plate recently, looking for some suggestions on how to get some extra power from her! Not had many turbo diesels so not sure which route to go for tuning, so any suggestions welcome, thanks!
WPAWS Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 A lot of people look at a remap to gain more power i`m sure someone here will give you more info on that
Trevor Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 A remap does a lot more besides, certainly makes the car more driveable and flexible on the drivetrain. The A4 should release plenty more power once remapped without causing any issues....apart from telling your insurance company about an upgrade Here is a useful article I wrote on the subject, hope it helps? http://www.drivn.co.uk/electronic-engine-tuning-guide/
Beaker190 Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Perfect thanks for the advice, with a remap would i be better to uprate turbo and intercooler for maximum results or do u recomend just a remap?
Dan3222 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Welcome to the forum Lee, I am not far from you actually, well in terms of Scotland anyway. In terms of remapping, what BHP are you at right now, 140 or 170 at a guess. A good remap should get you to a safe 200bhp. Much further than that then the turbo would become the first restricting item closely followed by the IC - InterCooler. After that the exhaust and injectors. Depends on your budget vs wanted outcome. But you might be pleasantly surprised on just remap results alone.
Steve Q Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Welcome to the forum Lee youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) i have to agree that a remap is probably your best option :) a remap should be tailored to your car as no two cars are the same due to age, mileage and how they have been driven. As such you can ask the Tuner on what's best for your car as they should examine it on a rolling road first. You shouldn't need a bigger turbo unless your going for mega power. Obviously make sure the car is in good health as the remap will accelerate the wear on parts that are already starting to go. Hope iv helped :) cheers steve
Beaker190 Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 Thanks alot for the information, have any of you got a recomendation for who is best to use for a remap? not wanting mega mega power but you know how it is, once you get abit of extra power you end up wanting more!
