Fatbloke Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Hi All I have had my car (66 plate A3 quattro 150 diesel) a few days now and have a few issues / questions. Can anyone shed any light? 1) The passenger side metal kick plate has some white marks on it like there is an issue with the laquer. Will this be covered under warranty? 2) I want to fit a full set of mudflaps on it. The dealer I got it from said they only fit on the back on that model. Is this correct? 3) I want to get a set of 16" winter wheels and tyres for it. What is the offset etc for the wheels? 4) What is the service interval on this car? Cheers Dave
Steve Q Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Hey Dave, I won't be able to help with all questions but il offer my advice :) the service interval is long life so every 20k miles or 2 years I believe. I would deffo ask Audi about the kick plate as you should get a 10 year anti perforation warranty with the body. Don't know how this will apply but I imagine it should be covered. With regard to mudflaps I'm unsure but I don't see why you can't get front ones. Mum unsure on the wheel offset, sorry. Hope iv helped :) cheers steve 1
Envy Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Wheel size: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/audi/a3/ Service: Normally 10'000. You can request extended that will ping an alert at 18'000 Front Flaps: Your Audi is an S-Line so the side Skirts may stop front flap fitting... Metal Plate: You will need to speak with the people you bought the car from first. Although the finish should be good on a 1 year old car some dealers will wiggle saying that the plate is damaged. Not a considerable cost to replace and they are in a position to be a wearing part.

Fatbloke Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 Went to Audi dealer today. You can now get a full set of mudflaps for the S line. Got them ordered. Audi suggested taking car back to where I bought it regarding the kick plates. I did that (Arnold Clark) and they were less than useless/interested. Only had the car a week and they have my money so totally passed the buck. They also told me it had been serviced and Audi had a record of it, utter rubbish. They also told me they would supply and fit mudflaps, you could only get the rear set and they were £40 so they would knock the price off the car and I could order them up and they would fit them. Another lie, full set available and £56 per axle. They were supposed to pay half the cost of a towbar too. Don't think I will get anywhere with that now. Bunch of crooks I think. Anyway, called Audi customer service and it's booked in next week to be checked out. Arnold Clark's can work it. Will never purchase from them again.

Glad you got sorted with mudflaps :) I'm surprised Audi don't do kick plates to be honest. Sorry you've had such issues with the dealer but there are some bad eggs about! What are you going to do about the service? I say this because if the ad said it was serviced (x amount of service stamps) and it wasn't then they have misrepresented the vehicle and over charged you. But you do need something in writing to say. By the way the Audi check should be FREE. Hope iv helped cheers steve 1
Fatbloke Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 The Audi check is free. They will do a paint check covering the kick plate and a health check. Initially they said to take it to where I bought it first. I then called Audi customer services and they put me back through to my local dealer. When I explained everything again they wanted it in to check it. It was the sales guy at Arnold clark that said it had been serviced and Audi keep the records electronically now. I checked when I was in getting the (alleged £40) mudflaps ordered and they had no record of it. It's got just over 9000 miles on it. I will probably just get Audi to do an oil and filter change at 10,000. I normally do it myself every 5000 after the warranty is out. I will just get the towbar sorted out myself. It's hard to find a garage you can trust. I do some stuff myself, brakes, oil changes etc. I will fit the mudflaps myself. Wouldn't trust Arnold Clark's to do it. The car is great although a bit under powered. We have a Skoda VRS too and it's quite nippy. It's lowered too and sticks like it's on rails. I am hoping the A3 is good on fuel. My old 1.7 cdti van wasn't great (46 - 48mpg). We get high 40's / 50's with the VRS. Next is the chrome grille getting painted black and possibly the front badge painted. The body shop guy suggested anthracite for the badge like the bit under the rear bumper. Cheers Dave
Steve Q Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Hopefully it all gets sorted :) as I say servicing wise it should be 12montha/20,000 miles which ever comes first. VAG cars nowadays are put on long life servicing. Couldnt agree more about finding a good garage! They are few and far between! 1
Fatbloke Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 Had a wee look at towbars. Arnold Clark guy told me they were around £150 and he would pay half and knock it off the price of the car. Looks like they are more like £600. Another lie and rip off from Arnold Clark's. What is a reasonable towbar to fit? Looking for something removable when not in use.
