johnnyg64 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Hi Folks. I am currently in the process of replacing both of the front wings on my 1992 Audi 80 B4 series saloon. I have stripped the old front wings off the car. I am now looking to find some replacement wings. Can anyone out there recommend good quality replacement wings that also fit well on the car and are a reasonable price? I know that some replacement wings do not fit properly and need a lot of fiddling about to get them to fit. The Original Equipment (OE) wings are far too expensive as I am currently planning to sell the car and I am not interested in old ones from a scrapyard which will contain some rust which will come through again after they are repainted. Many thanks.
Magnet Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Hello John, I feel my comments are not going to help, since it appears that you have very much narrowed your options down to (only?)(understandably) the best for the least cost. I fear in reality that you may be asking too much, unless you are very lucky and someone may just have a good pair kicking around and are prepared to sell them at a reasonable price. Tall order? I notice you are intending to sell the car, and option (1) would have been to have sold the car on a basis that the wings need repair/replacement. Unfortunately, this option is no longer viable since you have removed the wings prior to finding acceptable replacements, so in effect you have reduced the value of the car. Not prepared to accept some from a scrap car due to rust? Well John, it might be a question of needs must, and rusty repairable ones are better than none at all. Easy in hindsight, but it really is safer to ensure you have the necessary parts to replace anything you take off before you remove what you have. If it were mine, I would now be lowering my sights and be prepared to accept something better than you had, and go from there, and really all I can hope is that someone does come to your assistance. Would probably be worth moving this post to Sales and Wants. Good luck, Gareth. , 1
Steve Q Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Hi John, how bad are the wings? I ask as my a6 had very rusty front wings (the edge was crumbling away!) which I had replaced. However despite how bad they were the body shop did say that a cheaper alternative was to fill them filler. The garage said this would be cheaper and only advisable if I was looking to sell the car as it was only a patch work to make it less unsightly. This could be an option for you with your current wings if they are just rusty and not distorted in any way. To be honest I think any pattern parts always need some fettling to fit unfortunately. Cheers steve
Audi Owners Club. Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Hi John, I agree with Gareth and it may be the only course of action at the moment. However, I'm sure there are specialist suppliers in Europe that are already providing parts but don't show on searches necessarily. Maybe worth posting up in For Sale and Wanted section of the Forum. Good luck with finding some wings Cheers, Trevor
