Idling

Hi Folks. I have an Audi 80 B4 series 2.0 litre, 8 valve,  ABT Engine. Does anyone know if rough idling or erratic/uneven idling is a common problem with this engine as I have seen another owner with the same problem with a Volkswagen Transporter T25 2.0 litre petrol in a monthly magazine publication in the problem/letters page as I have experienced the same problems and does anyone know a fix/cure for this?

Hi John

From memory, it will be the idle speed control valve (ISCV) that will need cleaning out (with carb cleaner) and also ensure that any vacuum hoses are intact and no leaks present.

I had the same problem on my Audi cabriolet 2.6E 1994 I had to buy a second hand throttle body,this cured the problem.
