Alloy wheel paint code

I have recently purchased an audi a6 Quattro 3.0 tdi saloon and need to refurbish one of the alloys. Car is on a 2010 plate. I am unsure what silver is painted on the alloys by the manufacturers. I have looked on eBay for a light silver but there are many variations. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Steve... All my alloys have been powder coated in what looks like a bright silver. I contacted the paint shop in bury but they were not very helpful stating there are loads of different shades of silver.

Oh dear, I am sorry they weren't helpful! 

Think your other option is to ring a wheel refurb specialist. They'll probs charge you around £50 to refurb the wheel but they can make a very good job.

I used a company call trim technique many moons ago to refurbish a wheel on my mums golf mk4. My mum hit the curb after a mother pushed her pushchair between parked cars into the path of my mum! 

This obviously caused the wheel to be curbed and the lip of the wheel was bent. They managed to tefurb the wheel and it looks like it never got damaged. My sister was given the car and she still uses the golf and thebwheel has never had lacquer peel or anything! 

Sometimes with these companies you get some form of guarantee for the work.

Thanks once again. After a lot of trial and tribulation I have found the alloy wheel paint code is 1H7 and the colour is felgensilber which is probably silver in German. A local paint shop made me up a can of spray and there is now no difference in the colour of my alloys. Maybe this will help others on the forum who have had trouble finding the correct name/shade of paint.

I have managed to hit the curb with my 15 plate A6, I tried locally to get the wheel repaired and recoated,  the firm were very helpful but did not have the exact colour, and said it is difficult to get the code for the right shade from Audi.

any ideas folks.

Have you actually tried at your local Audi dealer and failed, or are you depending on the information you were given by the person you approached? 

Were these people specialist wheel refinishers, or a general bodywork business?

Thanks for  a quick reply, I will try my local Audi dealer, but I tried a while back to get the name of the brake pads they would fit, and they’re were a bit evasive, perhaps I got  the wrong chap on the day.

Not sure about your previous experience, and why you would be asking what brand brake pads they would be using. I can understand they would be rather evasive since the simple answer is they would only fit Audi branded parts. Perhaps it might be to do with asking the wrong question, and I would be surprised if they cannot help you with this, but if you fail, then I would suggest trying another wheel refinisher in your area. Secondhand car dealers are often a good source for wheel refinishing recommendations.
