GeorgeM Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Good afternoon, I've had a slight incident with my Audi and it got a bit damaged by a post. The sump has been damage and oil leaked out of it and the radiator has been rendered useless alongside with the fan and brackets. I have been trying to find an Audi A3 8V front end which I can use to restore my car but it's proving to be more difficult than I initially believed. I've found this Audi A3 -https://www.gumtree.com/p/car-replacement-parts/audi-a3-8v-black-edaition-sline-front-end-2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-tdi-tfsi/1271145782 for sale quite close to me, it's all great apart from the fact that it's black and mine is silver but the painting I believe I can sort out. What I'm not sure of is if the rad pack from the Audi A3 2.0 TDI (2015) would fit my Audi A3 1.6 TDI (2014). Also could anyone give me any tips on where and what to look for when buying a front end and where would it be the best place to look ? Kind regards, George
Steve Q Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Hi George welcome to the forum :) You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Sorry to hear you've had an accident. I believe the radiators are different between the 1.6 and 2.0. have you tried any local breakers yards? Or even eBay to get the parts individually. What you'll need is the bumper, brackets, reinforcement bar, radiator brackets. Hope IV helped Cheers Steve
GeorgeM Posted October 19, 2017 Author Posted October 19, 2017 Good Morning Steve, Thank you for your advice, I've spoken with some people working for Audi Servicing and they have said the same thing. Saying that the radiator pack from a 2.0 would differ to a 1.6 TDI. It is quite difficult to find a front end from a 1.6TDI as they aren't as popular. I've tried all breaking yards around the country and didn't find the 1.6TDI 8V front end yet, they seem to be sold very quickly as soon as they come on the market. Would anyone know the parts which make up a Radiator Pack ? Would you think that I would be able to purchase a radiator pack (part by part) and then fit it with a slam pack from the 2.0 I've shown above ? Thank you, George
Steve Q Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 You're welcome :) In terms of breakers yards. I use HM spares in leicester, they often have a3's in a d they're a decent bunch who work there :) you can contact them on 0116 2666660. The bumper and slam panel will fit it. would then just be a case of getting the correct radiator and brackets but I'm unsure on the exact ones though. Sorry. Hope I've helped Cheers Steve
GeorgeM Posted October 19, 2017 Author Posted October 19, 2017 I see, thanks again. Just spoken with my mechanic and he's told me that if I were looking at doing my own radiator pack it would have to include (Coolant Radiator, Fan, A.C. Radiator, brackets and hoses) Not sure if that would be more expensive part by part but I'll make up a list. Next time somebody will ask they can check my thread haha Thanks, George

GeorgeM Posted October 20, 2017 Author Posted October 20, 2017 I know, I managed to find a whole rad pack for around £500 - second hand but with only 29k miles. Would you have any idea how much it would cost for me to get a bonnet and front bumper painted in Silver (original colour - White). Thanks, George

That's if it's been done properly, ie painted on both sides etc. Cheers Steve

Magnet Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Surely you aren’t intending to use second hand schlock absorbers Gavin ? Can’t think of any other reason why you would ask. Kind regards, Gareth.

As one old one and one new one could affect the handling. 1
