Bray4 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Morning All, New to this forum but hoping someone could help me out. I'm in the process of replacing the auxiliary belt. In removing the old (snapped) one, I released I'm also going to need to replace the tensioner and the idler pulley. Both now ordered and should be with me tomorrow so I should hopefully get it back on the road at the weekend. But a few questions... 1) is the idler pulley a left-hand/reverse thread? 2) is the tensioner on a LH/reverse thread? 3) is it possible to replace the tensioner without removing the front end? I've seen a few vids online, but none seem to be for this year/engine (2005 2.0 TDI) I've manage to get the old belt off without taking the car to bits, and I'm hoping I can continue this way. I wonder if the alternator needs to be wiggled out the way to replace the tensioner as well though?? Many thanks
