Pinback66 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Hi all Just took delivery of an S4, great car, haven’t had an Audi for a few years and immensely impressed with build, design and performance. A question to anyone with a B9 S4 or A4 I have noticed that the driver’s side electric seat rear tilt adjust stops working after approx 5 seconds of starting the engine. The base continues to work, the passenger side fully works. Being in Drive, handbrake on/off has no effect. When the switch is moved a nearby relay can be heard, so that indicates power to the switch. If the drivers door is opened and closed the seat tilt works for approx 1.5 seconds. With door open it works constantly With the ignition off it works constantly, even when car locked and alarmed Also, and this is the most buzzard aspect, during normal driving the seat occasionally starts working, again for just a few seconds So, is this a built-in safety design, to avoid drivers adjusting the seat tilt when in motion? There is no mention of this in the handbooks and the Audi dealer I spoke with today had not heard of this. Ive has dozens of cars with electric seat adjust and none had this limitation. So, is this a fault or a glitch? The car is booked into Audi for investigation, but I’d like to get the forum’s opinions.
Pinback66 Posted November 24, 2017 Author Posted November 24, 2017 Further to my OP. Having played around with it at length, the de-selection of the option for ‘Easy entry’ seems to keep the seat enabled - my B9 doesn’t have the seat memory pack (or elect Adj steering column), so this option only seems to re position the side bolsters, it doesn’t move the seat or wheel. I can live with this, but the randomness of the on/off still worries me.
