Rough idle

Hi guys,

I have started having issues when I start the car or I’m sitting at lights. Initially I thought that it only happens when the engine is cold, but know I’ve had it when it’s warm as well.

No errors coming up!

Where can I start? I’m thinking of doing a full service first, including ignition coils and gearbox oil change, but is there anything I can monitor in VCDS to get an idea?

Thanks a lot.

Worth running some fuel additive through the engine before condemning any parts....that and an Italian Tune-up should do the job

Did a carbon detox last weekend. I will be going to Germany over Christmas so will be adding some fuel additive, do you recommend anything?

I have 3.0 TDI quattro and in my opinion car was not used for a while before I bought it. Would it be worth using any fuel additive just to clean the engine? and what product would you guys recommend?

Hello Edgaras,

It depends on how long it was standing unused, but if it were mine, I would be adding Redex diesel cleaner to a tank full of good quality non- supermarket fuel and giving it a good run. Again, depending on how long it has been standing, and unless you know the engine oil and filter have been changed, it would be worth doing that too.

Kind regards,

Gareth.
