  1. Well Adrian, that sounds like good and bad news! Still it eliminates the drains. Appreciating the pollen filter was changed, being a back to basics and check and recheck type of chap, if it were mine I would be taking the pollen filter out and having a look at it. Only then can you eliminate that as well. Kind regards, Gareth.

  2. I'm new to Audi ownership but regularly cleaned out the EGR value on my mk5 888 Astra. I'd get YouTube searching on how to change the EGR value before handing over that kinda cash! EGR exchange took 15mins to swap out on my old mk5 Astra!!!! i soaked my EGR value, and I mean soak the EGR value on the first clean, then went to town with a pipe cleaner/toothbrush. You need to clean as much as you can..doing just on the outside surface of the EGR value will not fix the issue. You need spend about 60mins on that first clean, if youre done in 5mins, you're not Cleaned it enough... good luck..

  3. It's unusual that no error code comes up, but does sometime happen.... EGR VALUE on my old Astra showed this symptom but not sure if you've got an EGR on your 1.6 petrol.... Immobile misbehaving (transponder starting to fail) could also give these symptom but you'd usually get a imobilizer error message on attempting restart... Poor compression could give you issues with starting up and poor running but is rarely intermittent .... interrmittent issues with no fault code are a Bain to troubleshoot...sorry! Assume car is well serviced, reputable garage? A
