  2. I have just picked up a 63 a3 1.4tfsi s-tronic. My daily commute is about 22miles with a mix of urban and dual carriageway driving. The car averages about 53mpg

  3. Well, I had my tech look at it, he is 90% sure the flywheel has gone, and also he found metal filings in the gearbox oil, and the inside of the casing damaged. So its a new gearbox on top. So I have ordered a used gearbox (with warranty), and having it repaired this Saturday. I will let you know how it goes.

  5. Well 3 months have now passed....... And everything is fine (until I write this) Bizarre because Audi said that it was not the starter motor, because if it was, it would have registered a fault So much for diagnostics ..... They can lead you astray .. And in my case about £300 extra not to say hours spent pouring over wiring diagrams I hope the above helps someone

  6. Hi Simon Yep, that looks like it could be the cause. It is a oil breather hose which will go into the inlet somewhere along the line to be burnt in combustion. Once fixed/replaced, that should sort the error Cheers Trevor

  8. what car? the last vag one i swapped was on a 1.9tdi ASV and there was a bunch of Allen Key bolts securing it to the gear box and a massive nut at the hub end. easy job and not many tools required (sockets, allen key sockets, lump hammer. to be fair its the same process for most cars. i drained the oil in fear from the previous time i did it and dumped litres of the smelly stuff all over my drive! not required on most VAGs i believe but i'd check before you start

  9. I have this exact problem on my tdi. I'm putting it down to either a belt or low fluid. Those would be my starting points. However. As you have warranty your best bet would be take it in and see what they have to say

  10. It will deffo have a light. And it should illuminate regardless and will only go out if it gets the correct signal. You usally have an oil level sensor down low and a pressure censor on or near the oil filter (if the oil filter is one up top) or to the side of the engine (if the filter is one down low) im on my phone so can't see, where are you based. I would go down the vcds route to check the status. Also , you could ring TPS, get a quote for a new sensor and also ask them where it is, they have full part schematics available so you can check wiring.

  11. I used to get ~25k out of Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 fitted to the rear of my Merc (driven on the exact some route), so as far as I'm concerned 12k is bad. Going to go for the Kumho again seems logical but I thought it might be worth asking the question here first. If the motorbike comment was a joke, I don't get it :)

  12. Hi Having completed a retro armrest mod to my first A1 I can say it's a reasonably easy job as long as you follow a few guidelines in the link below. I would recommend buying the genuine Audi armrest and not to bother with the eBay cheap imports. Stoke Audi Parts were always very helpful and will deliver. The instructions below are worth reading. One extra piece of advice is to tape each screw to the screwdriver when you come to secure the main armrest bracket to the floor pan. If you don't and they fall off and drop down the gap, you'll never find them. http://www.a1-forum.co.uk/a1forum/viewtopic.php?t=2324 Good luck
