  1. I say don't waste your money. For me the SD based Sat Nav (at least) is in my opinion very inferior to what you'll get from, say, Google Maps on your phone to the point that, whilst I have the Audi SD based Sat Nav, I choose to use my phone instead. My experience with Audi's implementation is it's embarrassingly slow to set up a destination and has demonstrated some bizarre routing choices. Only nice feature is the automatic offer to navigate to the nearest petrol station it's aware of if fuel gets really low. Voice recognition via the MMI is also far inferior (both recognition performance and options for what you can say) to what I get from my phone in the car (in my case Android) You can get something like this to neatly 'install' your phone in your A3 :-) https://www.audiphoneholder.com/

  2. Cheers! The cambelt which came off wasn't in too bad a shape giving it's age (10 years) and the cost was fine. No I'm afraid, I will be sat infront of Eurosport with a six pack of Redbull keeping tabs I have a new born so ideally I can't make too many distant trips, 2018 is looking more likely when things have settled at home.

  4. I found errors on my navigation map when I picked up my 16 plate A3, new last year! I enquired about how to update the SD card, but AUDI had no update procedure, as far as I know, you still have to buy an updated card from AUDI at a huge extortionate price! You can buy a 32 G card for £20! When I go on long trip, I also take my TomTom with me! So good luck!

  5. Generally speaking when you change from a standard bulb to an led you need to consider a resistor to dupe the systen into thinking the correct bulb is still there. The downside to this is heat, resistors can get very hot.

  6. I've just bought my Audi A3 convertible. I would like to use my USB pen to play music. The car has a concert stereo??? An aux port near handbrake and a 30pin iPod socket in the glove box. How could I use my USB to play music?

  7. I picked my 63reg a3 last week and have noticed the same. It's got 28000 on the clock. Could have so something to do with the COD engine. I only notice it when it's coasting on 2cylinders

  8. So to answer your first question, as you've had an EGR delete (good move) you can blank it off There will be a blanking plate, take a look on eBay. Usually you leave the cooler in place otherwise you have to deal with both ends and join up the coolant hoses.

  11. Oh dear Smokey - that does not sound a good outcome, and I guess it goes without saying that you will be changing the clutch slave cylinder ( (as asked for initial advice) as well - relative peanuts of an add-on cost. Not sure if I should say this, but perhaps your bad experience may just be of benefit to others about the perils of letting things get worse before attending to them. Anyway Smokey, let's hope it all works out better than it could be for you. Good luck and kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Where abouts are you?

  12. If you're entitled to the card and were not supplied one (i.e. you bought a spec with Sat Nav supposed to be present and usable) maybe you can go back to the seller. But I have to say the SD based Sat Nav is in my opinion very inferior to what you'll get from, say, Google Maps on your phone to the point I have the Audi SD based Sat Nav but choose to use my phone instead.
