  1. Just a quick update, got a call from the Audi garage, there is an issue with the cam shaft which they will repair under warranty. A quick look online and there seems to have been a couple issues with the timing and sensors on cam shafts. Just waiting to hear from garage regards a time frame for the repairs. Got a brand new Audi A4 S line as a replacement, which is nice (ish) but its not my A7 :(

  3. thanks Trevor I have an Auto electrician coming later to sort it out,am also putting a hands free system in instead of the original Blaupunkt thats in there (I will keep it with the car in case I ever sell it on) I think its best to get this one done properly tbh and pics will be done soon as my Grandson gets here! Im a technophobe!

  4. Did you clean up the faces?? With spacers you have to follow protocol as if you are changing to new brake discs. You have to ensure all faces are very clean so that the disc sits 💯 to hub. And then wheel to disc. When spacers are added there is an additional face, more chance of irregularities in mating surfaces. My guess is somehow there was a bad seating and this was causing just enough movement to make a clicking sound but only when there was weight on them i.e. Wheels back on ground. Hope that makes sense, my English is not the best and struggle to get it all out there lol. Result though mate, a rare cheap fix!, I would keep an eye on it though just in case.

  5. Hello Greg, Obviously you are geting sound comment from Darren. Not wishing to appear critical but I wonder if you are in danger of concentrating your concerns that this may be a DMF issue - having read or listened to dome comments that they are expensive to sort out. As Darren says, it could be something completely different that you should be worried about! If it is indeed the DmF then I would question whether the warranty would cover it since it might be classed as a consumable component. If I was in your situation, I would definitely be having this car inspected ( by a local independent) before buying. If the seller is not happy with this then simply walk away.   7. one word, emissions..... i would say you would be lucky to get much better MPG from it. modern diesels aren't built for economy anymore, they are built to please the lefites,

Well, you have to have the greatest of sympathy for Richad's plight with these two cars, and no doubt there is sufficient experience on here to point to whether this is indeed a 'not uncommon experience' with these these engines - if this is not understating the situation! For me, it demonstrates that car sales are driven by brand locality and a falling in love with the appearance of certain models, even to a point of come what may! Having bought a model we like, and we hope others will admire, we sometimes go about getting it tuned up ( are we unhappy with its manufactured performance? - perhaps making it more attractive). It seems (I have been there!) that this desire leads to some degree of blindness while we go about going in for round two despite being once bitten. It also demonstrates that full service history - deemed by some to be the be all and end all - in some cases is of little worth. I have advocated that it is taking an unnecessary buying risk if you don't contact the previous owner to gain their experience before buying - despite FSH, but Richard's experience would blow this advice out of the water, but better done than not done. Could someone enlighten me on this - and perhaps minimise the risk of this happening to some other unsuspecting - but is this an issue with a chain driven oil pump? If so, like cambelts, is it advisable to change these chain assemblies (modified?) at some sort of "regular" interval to ensure the engine remains safe, and Audi do not have any recommended service schedule for this, so FSH is indeed meaningless as far as this is concerned? My commiserstions to Richard, and thanks for sharing his bad experience which might just be of benefit to others. Kind regards, Gareth.
