  3. Hello Justin, Perhaps this may appear to be a daft question, but is this creaking problem less if a problem in wet conditions? My feeling is that this is a dry bush issue - and there will be numerous ones, and well worth getting an assistant to listen to try to find out which corner emits the noise. I see the car is about 3 yaers old, and it would probably benefit from a dosing with a WD40 type spay on all bushes and moving parts anyway. Obviously pay respect to shielding the brake discs from any overspray. I have found that GT85 (with PTFE) to be a good/better? alternative to WD40, and being Welsh it matters that it is cheaper. I understand sales in Scotland have gone through the roof, whereas WD sales are in decline! Only joking. Kind regards, Gareth.

  4. Hello Kal, From the school of eliminating the simple things first, I would not consider major wallet-affecting issues before first eliminating that the battery is not the cause of your issues. Prior to the stop- start technology, original batteries usually lasted a good 10 years. Now, with so called intelligent charging batteries, stop-start, etc. who knows how long they will last. I would normally have suggested you get your battery's efficiency checked by say Halfords, but I 'm not sure with this modern technology. Probably worth having a word with your local indi first. Kind regards, Gareth.

  5. Thanks for the advice guys appreciate it. I will go back to the dealer and see what they will advise. If there's one thing I've learned is be polite and not demanding, by doing that your doing yourself no favours and won't get anywhere lol! Thanks again guys I will keep you updated

  6. Hello Dom, I think Trevor is spot on with his advice to check for obstructions, and to carefully lubricate all pivot points - -ensuring you have plenty of 'backing' rags around where you are gong to spray with the fine tube on the WD40. An assistant with their own WD would be handy for this job, so both sides can be dealt with at the same time. If that fails, it might be one (which one!?) of many micro switches in the system. These are very often very simple plastic things and not too long lasting. If you still have problems it might be worth doing some searches on local car (classic car even) trimmers. They are often clued up on such things. Or try a trusted independent who should be able to fault trace this for you. Good luck, Gareth,

  7. 35 is a tad low if you are driving Miss Daisy. My "mates" will average 35 MPG doing a constant 90 up the "autobahn" between west and east. 2000 miles is still young and barely run in. Question: Do you see the idle revs up around 1000 a lot? (Normal tickover revs 800). When you stop are the engine fans still running with the engine stopped? My inkling is that the car is doing Regens to cause such low MPG. Note that DPF fitted diesels do not like short runs and low revs. One comment on another manufacturer's forum said they need a good thrashing every now and then. My Avant was second hand with 9K on the clock and was doing regens weekly. I was seeing poor MPG. That has settled out now and I have not noticed a regen for over 2 months now.(Just tempted fate) If in doubt get it checked out - Audi support is good but you have to badger them. Not sure if Regens are logged in the ECU history on Audis but http://www.ceramex.com/images/Ceramex DPF Technical & Diagnostical Information .pdf Last question - Are you looking at long term or short term MPG on the car's display and have you done a real MPG check... miles clocked to refuel amount? http://www.mpg-calculator.co.uk/

  8. Welcome to the forum Stuart! Your making a good choice with the a6 model you have selected as it is the best bar far. Excluding the s6 or rs6. The Le Mans has lowered suspension (more so than the s line) and has electric everything including auto closing boot and reversing camera :) in terms of faults the common one is the intake manifold swirl flaps failing. Now a replacement intake manifold will cost you around £500 but you can buy repair kits which cost around £80. youll be able to tell if this has been done by the service history. If the car has Audi service history then you can ring them to see what has been done. Ideally contact the dealer who has done the servicing. Also make sure all electrical items work as they should as fixing electrical parts can get costly. I would also recommend you seeing if you can get an AA or RAC inspection carried out on the vehicle. The seller is reluctant or refuses for you to have one done then I would walk away as they or the car has something to hide. Also make sure there are no warning lights on the dash such as the engine management light. As this could be caused by a clogged dpf filter. The dpf filter was fitted to 3.0tdi a6 models 2008 onwards. The filter gets clogged due to too many short journeys and it means the filter can not burn off the particulates which occurs on longer journeys. As such it becomes more and more clogged until it breaks and at which point it can cost you over £1000 to replace the dpf. The other reason why the engine management light could be on is due to a faulty egr/egr which again is another £1000+ job to fix. With regard to the gearbox make sure the gear changes are smooth and that there's no jerkiness or hesitation. Make sure the changes are smooth with the paddles/manual mode too. As obviously any repairs will be costly! Just to make you aware performance Audi ran a buyers guide on the 3.0tdi Le Mans in their last issue :) If the car has good service history and drives well then you'll be getting a very nice car indeed abd one of the nicer Audi models on the second hand market :) hope iv helped :) cheers Steve

  10. Just done the rear calipers on my 1990 90 20v. Brake Engineering do exchange calipers from their factory in Wrexham but will not deal direct with Joe Public, you have to go via a parts factor. if you email them, they will point you in the right direction. Excellent service and will not break even your bank! Hope that helps. Chris

  12. Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration. The process of burning off build up of particulates on the filter by injecting additional fuel to increase heat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_particulate_filter
