  1. Hi Guys , update! at the begining of last week I decided to let the garage take the head off and investigate from there, and Gareth was right the cylinder head gasket was blown in 2 places between the ports. So the cylinder head has been sent to be tested and skimmed and has arrived back at the garage today where it will be refitted with new gaskets etc. I might get it back tomorrow or Friday and after trying it, if all is ok I will get the gearbox fixed or replaced as the syncromesh has gone in second gear. So fingers crossed. Thanks Gareth, Dan and Trevor for all of your input and advice .

  7. Your most welcome Dayan :) I couldn't agree more! You have a good compromise and like you I'd keep the 18" wheels as they look great on the car :) I think the se wheels are either 16 or 17" but not sure exactly to be honest.

  8. Welcome to the forum Miles :) sorry to hear your having issues with your q7. They are lovely cars to drive and be in! I do hope the dealer can sort it for you quickly and with little fuss! Min assuming it opens and closes smoothly despite the creaking noise? I know it's not the same but on my old Ford escort which has a tilt and slide sunroof, I find WD40 works a treat when the sunroof gets stiff. I spray it on the runners and other moving parts and it solves any issues. The escort is my 2nd car btw lol there should be a section in the owners manual about sunroof maintenance. Cheers steve

  10. Welcome to the forum Dayan :) hope your excited to get your new Audi! :) you made the right spec choice in my opinion :) the s line spec is far better then the se spec. In terms of the suspension the se suspension will Deffo give you comfort (my dad had a 2013 a3 company car se spec) the s line suspension is lower and as such gives a firmer ride which I experienced whilst working at a car supermarket. The ride is also partly determined by the wheel and tyre combination. So obviously the bigger the wheels/lower profile tyres the harder the ride will be. The se wheels are a smaller diameter compared to the s line wheels. If you prefer comfort over than sportiness then you've probs made the right decision on suspension :) hope iv helped cheers steve

  11. Hello Dayan, I'm sure I am not experienced enough to answer your questions, but perhaps some of the following may be useful to know while others far more experienced than me offer you meaningful advice. What I would ask is, are you an "enthusiastic" driver and welcome road holding over comfort, or is the S Line of more interest to you than the SE due to the S Lines looks etc? I think thereby lies the answer to your question, and of course, you have to be the judge of this. Compromises are always necessary, but I really think it does boil down to which of the two is more important to you. I'm sure others will assist you much more than I once they know your preference. On a personal note, I have a non-Audi sport variant (bought used) but I bought it due to its condition and equipment, and in preference, I would have preferred the non-Sport model if I could have found an equally nice one. My preference is for ride comfort rather than throwing it around corners, but in my case availability decided the choice. I think you are very wise to seek good advice before committing. Good luck, Gareth.

  13. Hello Martyn from the Homeland, It sounds as if you have been around the common causes for this - quite often the under-seat connector which suffers from dust and dirt etc. My advice would be - don't fiddle anymore! Just take a trip back to the nice dealer rather than ring them and ask them to sort it for you. A car with an inoperable/ suspect air bag system must be termed as being unsuitable for purpose and they have to fix it. Just be pleasant and non demanding, as we Welsk folks are! Whatever you do, do not mention code readers and fuses and wires and personal fiddling - recipe for 'you've messed it up' The car is 10 years old, and chances are the original battery has now expired and been replaced and this may well have had an influence over this problem. Good luck - I'm sure they will sort this for you. Don't think you are hassling them. If not let us know,- well let us know anyway. Kind regards, Gareth

  14. Your welcome, glad I could help :) hmm well you have thought so it's certainly weird it's not coming up on the code reader. If you've checked the wiring im Wondering if it's the airbag switch. But it sounds like a trip to the dealer is a must. As the car will fail it's MOT with an airbag warning light on. Keep us posted :) Cheers Steve

  15. Welcome to the forum Martyn :) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) nice looking a3 by the way :) first thing I'd do is check your warranty paperwork as I wouldn't be surprised if the warranty is a separate company. If so your best bet is to check the list you would have been given to see if airbags or electrics are covered. If it is through the garage then I'd take it back to them. With regard to the airbag light it could be a simple case of a loose wire or even a faulty passenger airbag switch in which case it wouldn't be expensive to fix. Obviously if it were an airbag then this will be an expensive repair. But also I'd be checking the car for any previous accident damage. Hope iv helped :) cheers steve
