  2. Despite what the AA man did or said, (and bare in mind their job is to resolve breakdowns, not regular maintenance), you have the classic symptoms of CV joint failure: namely a grinding noise at full lock, silence at straight ahead.

  3. Just thought I'd share... A 1994 Audi cabriolet owned by princess Diana is going under the hammer by Coys Auction this weekend (Saturday 15th) at Blenheim Palace and is expected to fetch £35000-£40,000. the full article can be found here: http://www.oxfordtimes.co.uk/news/15403621.Classic_Audi_driven_by_Princess_Diana_to_be_auctioned_at_Blenheim_Palace/# Plus some pics when it was owned by princess Diana (taken from google images) cheers steve

  4. In my MX5s I have always had very effective windblockers. My question is; does the A3 unit work effectively? Although no problem this summer, it might be needed in the winter (I have always had the roof off if not raining even in freezing weather).

  5. Hey Joe iv experienced them on the a4 and found them effective. I suspect the a3 one would be just as good :) you probably know this already but your best place to start looking for one is eBay :) cheers steve

  8. Hi All, Thanks for your messages I will try and make a video later today. @Trevor thanks for your message I do not hear any droning noise when driving the car so that eliminates the rear wheel baring's , when I hit speeds of 50/60 MPH there is a slight wobble/vibration on the steering wheel if that helps @cliffcoggin Thanks for your message I understand that the AA are there to resolve breakdowns but i needed to make sure that the car is safe to be driven in as I have my family in the car daily and that i wasn't putting them in any danger. What you are describing sounds right when turning right there is a slight grind/humming noise -for a split second then disappears. As its a possibility it could be the baring or the CV joint i might just get it booked for a diagnostic and get them to repair what ever it needs to resolve as i don't want to be changing the wheel baring ands its the CV joint and vice versa - as I was told previously by a mechanic this was the drivers wheel baring so i had the hub & baring changed but the issue is still there. If I manage to get it booked in the next couple of days ill come back to you and confirm what the issue was - hopefully the parts already mentioned Thanks for all your help so far

  10. Interesting Sorry got the numbers confuse in my slightly earlier post. Silly me! Now more sense! So what would a 1994 Audi Carbriolet with 147k miles, no MOT and which has been off the road for the last 7 years be worth then? Remove the royal connection and have a guess. Add the royal connection and we know the anticipated answer. Kind regards, Gareth.

  11. Sounds like the passenger side wheel bearing as all of the centrifugal load/weight will be going onto that bearing when turning right. Worth checking the rears as well but they will normally give a constant droning noise if they are worn. Let us know the outcome Cheers, Trevor

  12. Hello Omar, Sorry to hear of your problem. I think all those who have responded are really asking - have you asked the Audi dealership to give you a report on what has actually happened to your engine and why? The answer must be with them and to simply say it requires a new engine is not enough, and I don't believe a meaningful advice will be had via. the forum until you have that report from them. Whether you understand that report doesn't really matter, but need it you certainly do. Personally, I would not be content with a verbal report, but an e-mailed one would be acceptable - which you could then post on here. It might be interesting to know how long you have owned this car, and whether it has a documented service history, and when it as last serviced. We take it the car has not been subject to recall in the recent past. "Causation" . Any chance you are in the legal/insurance claim business? Not a term often used on here. Kind regards, Gareth.

  13. Wow...that's a great investment, almost worth trying to find cars that used to belong to celebrities and auction them off (just a thought). Great story and photos though....nice one Steve
