just finished the Autoglym treatment on the hood. after the first proper rain since I bought the car the fabric was soaked, so; remembered to cling film the windows before treatment. washed & scrubbed with the cleaning fluid, dried off then treated with the proofing fluid. Should be good for 12 months I reckon Does anyone do this more regularly that 12 monthly intervals?2 points

The fact it is a soap based product it will foam up inside the system. Get it drained, don't drive it!! £50 top whack spent now will be a lot cheaper than a new engine a few miles down the road.2 points

Hi Dan Thanks for the advice. The Lady in the meantime had driven it to Halfords and they drained & refilled the cooling system. But thank you for prompt and accurate advice. Cheese Gromit Max1 point

Hello Lauren, I like Steve's idea of wandering into you local Audi dealer and asking them to search their database for cars that fit your requirements. This might mean some travelling to see what you want (personally I would not buy from photos) but at least it might give you a choice. Good luck, Gareth.1 point

So, got the starter motor put on by a tame spanner monkey yesterday - what a difference! you can just tell by the sound of the new starter that the old one must have been totally shot - car starts within a second of turning the key, unlike the 3 seconds previously. Not had chance to see the old unit yet - i'll try and get to see what state it was in tomorrow. Mark1 point

Hey all, Recently swapped from a S5 to a 2015 RS5. What a beast is it. Currently full stock but next week will come the Armytrix! Recently got the RS5 detailed at Staffordshire Car Care. Many tasty Gyeon products were applied :) Considering popping down to Donnington tomorrow for the VAG Tuner event. Only just heard about it but I'm only an hour away! Anyway, here be images!1 point

Thanks Steve, that's been really helpful. The swirl flaps etc are nothing new to me as I've had them all on both of my previous cars. It's good to know that the gearbox is robust though as this was one of my main concerns. I'll look up the article you mention to get as much info as possible before committing to buy. Thanks again Stuart1 point

Welcome to the forum Stuart! Your making a good choice with the a6 model you have selected as it is the best bar far. Excluding the s6 or rs6. The Le Mans has lowered suspension (more so than the s line) and has electric everything including auto closing boot and reversing camera :) in terms of faults the common one is the intake manifold swirl flaps failing. Now a replacement intake manifold will cost you around £500 but you can buy repair kits which cost around £80. youll be able to tell if this has been done by the service history. If the car has Audi service history then you can ring them to see what has been done. Ideally contact the dealer who has done the servicing. Also make sure all electrical items work as they should as fixing electrical parts can get costly. I would also recommend you seeing if you can get an AA or RAC inspection carried out on the vehicle. The seller is reluctant or refuses for you to have one done then I would walk away as they or the car has something to hide. Also make sure there are no warning lights on the dash such as the engine management light. As this could be caused by a clogged dpf filter. The dpf filter was fitted to 3.0tdi a6 models 2008 onwards. The filter gets clogged due to too many short journeys and it means the filter can not burn off the particulates which occurs on longer journeys. As such it becomes more and more clogged until it breaks and at which point it can cost you over £1000 to replace the dpf. The other reason why the engine management light could be on is due to a faulty egr/egr which again is another £1000+ job to fix. With regard to the gearbox make sure the gear changes are smooth and that there's no jerkiness or hesitation. Make sure the changes are smooth with the paddles/manual mode too. As obviously any repairs will be costly! Just to make you aware performance Audi ran a buyers guide on the 3.0tdi Le Mans in their last issue :) If the car has good service history and drives well then you'll be getting a very nice car indeed abd one of the nicer Audi models on the second hand market :) hope iv helped :) cheers Steve1 point

Hi Trevor..........and anyone else following my virgin introduction to this group Fantastic car just taken a 525 of the lights, left it for dead on the straight and took the roundabout at twice the speed of it...........expensive though when the fuel gauge matches the rev counter but the revs going up means fuel gauge going down...........just exuberance I'm sure common sense will kick in (before plod does it for me)......I'm 50 just reliving my youth (mid life crisis you know) although I did that at 30, 35, 40, 45 and now 50. I have more excuses if requested (well practised, been married 30 yrs) The Cars got issue, however I expected that......I'm just looking for answers to NEWBIE questions that is all, it's not about sympathy and tea 1 Already been answered by Trevor, ish...the sat nav and amp have been replaced by Audi are there any other Bluetooth devices that may be affected by water ingress ? Lots of relays underneath ! 2 Drivers window has failed, makes noises but doesn't move.........new regulator ? 3 One Xenon is yellow one is blue what is the correct colour and how to fix ? 4 Missing Le Man Badges..........if I'm paying at the pump I want to optically explain to myself what I'm paying for Performance, reliability, build quality, comfort, status. Lets not lie We all love our Audi's for the same reason MM1 point
