  2. Welcome to the forum Chris :) Lovely a3 you have there! One of the better colours in my opinion :) As Trevor has said, you've had a nice history of audis! :) You'll find the members on here are a friendly and help bunch so ask away with any questions :) with regard to the light surrounds, I believe they just unclip from the bumper and you would have to get them resprayed. Cheers Steve

  3. I would be a little concerned that a professional mechanic can hear the noise but dismisses it because he cannot find the cause. There is evidently something wrong with the transmission/suspension/steering otherwise it would not make a noise. Re-reading your first message you said you could feel a vibration when turning the N/S wheel in the air that you could not feel on the O/S. Was there any noise with that vibration? A worn wheel bearing rumbles, a rubbing brake pad makes a scuffing or scraping sound, a worn CV joint clicks.

  4. that's exactly what I did in my MX5 very succesfully but it will not work in the audi; the ipod connector comes out from the back of the multi CD thingy in the glovebox, it lights up when plugged in & the lying little xxxx says it's playing but I cant find it in the myriad of switches & options

  5. Ringwood Ale is ok - Old Thumper? Have BoonDoggle up the Rugby Club. Also like the Cornish Ales - Proper Job and Tribute. Back to Cider and have to say you can't beat a drop of Old Rosie.

  6. Hi Ady....welcome to the Forum Great idea from Dan3222 (aka. cheapskate) but also the suggestion that Steve Q has offered is equally valid.....your choice I like the idea of the after-market system as it offers a lot more beside, such as SatNav, telephone, phone mirroring, media, etc Have a look at the ones here: http://www.iceboxauto.com/audi Let us know how it all goes Cheers, Trevor

  7. You will be a lot cheaper to have a stainless steel system made, bet it would cost less than £500 for a copy of what you have. Plus will make selling the car a bit easier too!!

  9. Hi Ken....welcome to the Forum As niedzial1983 has stated, it is the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor and just needs to be clipped back into the bumper but will still work where it is hanging down. Cheers, Trevor

  11. Hello Ken, I'm with Steve on this, and favour the possibility that this is a "broken off" plug for something like a fog or spot light if fitted. It would be worth checking that all the lights are working. Other possibly is that it's a dislodged horn connector. Should be two horns? - and perhaps only one working, I think it's great you are encouraging you son to take a responsible attitude to his motoring, and introducing good thoughts of whether it is safe to drive or not. On that topic I would say it's always difficult to judge things at a distance with forum replies, so if there is any doubt on a car being safe to drive it should always be checked out for assurance at a local garage as soon as possible. Kind regards, Gareth.

  12. Welcome to the forum ken :) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) it looks to me to be a sensor of some sort. Is the car driving fine? In failing that does the a3 have fog lamps and if so are they both working? Iv moved this to the a3 section by the way. Cheers steve

  16. Hey Omar, Are you any further into the 'diagnosis' (see what I did there?). I originally suggested the emissions recall as you hadn't stated if you had a diesel or a petrol. I would agree with Gareth ( I seem to do that a little too much) as his advice is sound. You need a full report on the situation. Does you car have a Turbo? If these seize they create a lot of back pressure. To test for this take of the oil filler cap and see if the engine starts. If it does it indicates quite strongly a seized turbo or a blocked exhaust system. Though less common on petrols it could help identify a cause. Out of interest I worked within the medical sector for 12 years. Now self employed but needing constant medical attention. Lol Regards Dan
