Hello all Me Birt Ram and Claire jumped in my Audi A6 3.0TDI S Line Le Mans and headed for Barcelona via Amsterdam. We stayed in Germany for most of the journey rather than France for obvious reasons and we got there in no time. Even when we did have to go through France we averaged 120mph through the night. After a few days in Barcelona me and Birt decided to venture on. We headed for Monaco and both had a go driving through the tunnel so we could say when we watch the F1 that we had done it. It's the small things haha. Then decided we wanted to visit a water park Jesolo which is in Italy. So off we went and through the night again it was superb. We ended up in a race with two identical Abarth 500's which you just couldn't make up, it was amazing, we played with them for a while then !Removed! off using the mighty power from the V6. After visiting the water park we decided that we might as well go to Venice, on the way into Venice you go over a bride covered in speed cameras. Being in a UK registered car I made every single camera flash, that was fun. In Venice we had a wander round got a pizza and then decided it was time so we headed to our favourite place - THE NURBURGRING. On the way there we passed through Austria, we have driven through Austria before and loved it so we were very happy to do it again. It didn't let us down. Superb roads and incredible views. Birt got stopped by the police for speeding and tailgating though. €35 Euro each resulting in a €75 on the spot fine and no points or anything like that. Not to bad. Parked up for the evening in a lay by off a German autobahn I was putting my private reg on as I had just had a phone call to say the new V5 had come in the post at home and a man grabs me. Turns out to be undercover armed police accusing us of stealing the car. After a long time we managed to sort it out even without the V5 and at that point the police had given up. They didn't understand anything about private reg's so by the end they basically just let us drive off and trusted us that we had put the correct reg on. Once at the Nurburgring we did a few laps each with some time in between to let the brakes cool down and had no drama whatsoever so all good. Always worth visiting if you haven't been. After that we decided to stop off in Amsterdam for another night on the way home to relax. Best idea ever. Home safe Month or so later recieve a 100mph speeding ticket from the M25 after doing 155mph legally in Germany. Oh !Removed!1 point

Hi A7guy, The ticking noise from the top left of your engine is very similar to mine. When I took it in it was the cam chain tensioner that needed fixing and they replaced all 6 cam shafts I think, I'll have to look at the receipt, I didn't really understand what was done so apologies if I got the cam shaft bit wrong. Anyway, the engine does sound better now, more of a grumble than a grumble with a ticking noise. Like you, the noise was there even when the engine was warm. What did it for me was that on trip I had stopped at a motorway stop and left my wife in the car with the engine running whilst I nipped out and when I was walking back I could the car idling in the carpark and I could hear the ticking noise, which I thought doesn't sound right. The main dealer fixed it fairly quickly with no fuss and cost about to them in parts alone was £3k add labour and a loan car for a week it must have set them back a bit more. Take your car in before the warranty expires. They must have come across it before because it was fixed, no questions asked. Mine is also a 2015 272 TDI with 23k on the clock at the time of the problem I'll post a video of the engine post cam chain tensioner replacement when I get some time. Hope this helps, Kind regards, v1 point

Hello sorry I've not got back to you all sooner. Supposedly after the remap it is upwards of 260bhp. my Audi does not seem to have vented discs standard which I find odd as I've seen them on a lot of other Le Mans, I have some new brake pads now I went for ATE all round and they are not bad at all. I also used some Brembo brake fluid. i will have a look at the road trips forum now thanks. i have my lights tinted with normal window tint in a smoked shade rather than limo black to save me hassle from the police and I think they look perfect.1 point

I have my a6 c6 for over 2 years and as im a big car person and i like to know how things work i have took half of the car apart and back :) . I decided to clean up the wheel archers so i took them out and found a rust... so i took all 4 out and im was supprised to find more . I mean its not a lot cosidering the car is from 2006 But i then looked it up online to see if this is quite common but didnt find anything usefull. On one of the serches i came across audi warraty page that states audi gives 12 years guarantie for rust penetration . Im booked for next week with them so wish me luck .i thought i have nothing to lose :) I will update the post once i have spoken to them Here is a pic from front driver side1 point

Hello Thomas, I'm with Steve on this, or you could try some leather dressing ( Autoglym or others ) on the surfaces which touch. Might be just worth a try. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point

Welcome to the forum Thomas:) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) i believe this is a common issue with the mk1 TT. I think your best bet would be to put something between the seat and the other leather trim. Preferably something made out of material. Hope iv helped. Cheers steve1 point
