Note the Passat could have the optimistic VAG Software running on it. Difficult to do a retrospective check of Passat but do a Litres to fill against miles check.... http://www.mpg-calculator.co.uk/ I find my Audi Diesel brutally honest but never optimistic. your car is nearing 9 years old - what sort of miles does it have on it? Being new to you are you aware of the previous owner? Note Diesel Cars are not that good at town work (ironic that most Taxi are Diesel) but count yourself lucky that you do not have a DPF if you are predominantly a town driver. There are a couple of options open to you - a remap may help and dare I say it a Throttle Chip Box.... I would not seek greater performance but remapping will optimise fueling for better economy.2 points

Hi Nick Welcome to the forum! :) Trevor has pretty much covered it really, You found a good car for that price , the niggles don't sound expensive just them annoying little things that pop up every so often :) Is the clicking a inside the car sort of sound or underneath the car sound, could always see if all the bolts holding the seat are secure or try moving the seat about till it clicks into position and see if that helps it. Kind regards Bradley2 points

Quick way to double check any noise is coming from brakes (from your description on sounds created over rough ground) lightly press the pedal and hold for as long as you can. The idea is to not stop the car but add a bit of pressure to stop any noise from loose parts!! If the noise goes away then it will be most likely the brakes, if it doesn't then it is not likely to be the brakes but another part of the suspension. Hope this helps2 points

Ah - a happy ending. Note unsympathetic hoovering or big feet passengers can dislodge connections. A securing of electricians tape around the connector block may prevent future interruptions. Note Vauxhall are notorious for heated seat matrix failures - do not see so much from other makes. Must be down to seat design.1 point

Luckily just turned out to be a loose connection under the seat! cheers for the help!1 point

Hi Abby What fuel you using? carbon deposits build up over the years decreasing performance and lowering MPG, you may not notice that it's running different because you're used to it, I could recommend trying come shell V+ or having a carbon clean on it. make sure all tires are also blown up to the correct PSI. Is there anything happening around the city atm that wasn't there with the passat? like road works (more stop start ect) ? Also what's the MPG saying on the screen, match it up to what the Urban miles are for the car and see the difference. Kind regards Bradley1 point

Hi Trevor Yes it was Mot'd before i bought and no advisories passed with flying colours. All services with Audi. How would I go about checking if there is something wrong with car for fuel consumption? Car drives smooth as silk doesn't seem like anything is wrong with it.1 point

Hello David, I'm very much with Tevor on this, having used it in a now 140k 1.6 A3 since VAG recommended it. The car had been run previously on Longlife 3 on the longlife service schedule, but now its having a quieter life - but I still use the Longlife one even though I change it (and the filter) every year. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point

Hi Nick....welcome to the Forum To start with, the temp gauge is more than likely a loose wire on the connector attaching to the sensor...seen it a few times...easy to identify and repair. The tapping/knocking noise may possibly be something left loose when the gearbox was removed and refitted...worth checking movement on the engine (leave in first gear with the engine and handbrake off and rock backwards and forwards quite rigorously to hear for any knocking. The remote...there are quite a few posts on this forum for possible solutions...worth a trawl and trial and error until you find something that works. Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor1 point

Hello Craig, If it were mine, I would not even THINK about getting it repaired, but what I would think carefully about is getting the existing four road wheels removed and thoroughly inspected for such defects. Your life and other road users lives depend on that action, so I would not delay that. From the posted photo, it looks as if there may be another crack site on the same wheel?? There is something in my mind going back to when I had hair, that work had been done to assess the effect of road salt on such wheels, which had been shown up at the time to cause corrosion cracking. Just throw it away Craig, and thoroughly inspect whatever you buy as a repalcement - and as I said - all other wheels on your car. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point

I am no Audi expert but would start looking at DPF function. On the DPF there is a differential sensor measuring pre and post filter pressure. When the margin between the two passes a threshold - the sensor will call on the ECU to do a regen. This may be a red herring but if something has changed the "factory" set up then it could be a clue.1 point

Each to there own on something like this. But in my opinion the cost to get this professionally repaired would probably be more than buying a second hand wheel, which hasn't been repaired and will therefore not be playing on the back of you mind should you ever use the spare. But like I say each to there own!1 point

Hi Jim Welcome to the forum! :D I've heard many stories as I'm on a few groups on Facebook and as other have stated on here about it occuring weeks or months down the line, sure its the ECU that starts going funny, but also as Trevor has said, Remaps tend to fix the issue, you could be fine though :D keep us update Jim on what's happening :) Kind regards Bradley1 point

Shame to hear your changing to BMW but I can understand your reasons/concerns but just became of BMW engines. They are smoother but more tempretmental the high the mileage gets. Cheers steve1 point

I feel far more information would be needed Dame, on the background to this headgasket failure, and the general condition and mileage of the car before any meaningful advice could be given. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point
