  1. Hello Penny, I'm very much with Fast Edd on this and I too believe it is up to you to decide what you want to do about with Your car. If you take a simplistic view and ask yourself if you are happy with its current running and performance (which it seems you are), and if from what you read, you are likely to risk it becoming worse rather than better by accepting the recall, then I see you have the right to leave well alone. If it were mine I would do as Edd suggests and totally ignore these alerts and see what happens. I wouldn't take any risk of taking this 7 year old car anywhere near an Audi dealer, who could well ignore your dictate and just do it and argue about it after. Perhaps think twice about even taking it to an Audi independent, but preferably entrust your servicing to a trusted local garage. Kind regards, Gareth.

  2. It's your choice, you are not legally obligated to have it carried out , just ignore the letters and enjoy your Audi. Make sure though! ! that you specify when you book your Audi in for work that you have added to the paperwork NO TO THE EA189 UPDATE! !!. Its bad news for your Audi..I hope this helps.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply Steve, I am pleased to say that Audi have come back and said it was a mistake in the documentation and confirmed I have the manufacturers warranty for the remains part of the 3 years. Your advise was helpful and would have been my next step had they have not sorted it. many thanks, great forum

  4. Hey Terry welcome to the forum :) youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) your dead right! The manufacturers warranty should carry over as long as the car had full service history. Any additional warranty they offer should only start after the manufacturers warranty has expired. Starting additional warranty before the manufacturers has expired is mis selling and thus illegal! Hope that makes sense. Cheers steve :)

  6. After almost 4 months of waiting I finally collected a couple of days ago. Despite luke warm customer service from my dealer im delighted with the car. Took a leap of faith with the colour having never seen an A3 in Nano Grey but it looks the cats pyjamas ☺ Not had much opportunity to drive it yet but initial signs are good, I think the 1.5tsi is going to be more than capable.

  7. I have just finished removing the old drive shaft and fitting the new one.. wasnt actually too bad - a little fiddly but okay. Took me 3 hours but a lot of that was hunting for correct tools!! pleased to say the shuddering has now gone! I'm so relieved! The inside cv joint was absolutely shagged! Thanks everyone for your help!
