  2. Well. The deed has been done and I now have a car with a stage 1 re-map. What a difference. It was obvious as soon as I drove it away. It seems to rev through the range a lot smoother and has power all through the range starting from about 1400 rpm. I almost spun all the wheels the first time I pulled away from the lights The MPG when driving home from work got up over 50mpg so was very pleased The HP has gone from 170 up to 205. I was going to have the EGR switched off as well but after another conversation with the mechanic he was not keen to switch it off as feedback from others who have had it done was that the dpf sooted up a lot quicker. As I was not having the DPF removed we agreed not to switch of the EGR. Feedback welcome on the decision. I would be interested to see how it matches up with a REVO re-map or a custom job on a rolling road. The cost was £195 and took about 4 hours from dropping off to picking the car up. Just enough time for a couple of beers, weekly shop and a coffee. Am I glad I did it. Absolutely. 3. Hello Robin, It seems Christie has not been on here for about a week so we don't know how he is getting on with this. Shame. Perhaps the oil way you are talking about is the oil feed from the pressure side of the oil pump, which pumps oil up to the overhead camshaft ( with the oil returning to the sump via. numerous large cast in holes which allows the oil to get into the sump in the first place when the oil is changed/topped up). If this oil way was blocked it would prevent oil getting to the top of the engine, but not necessarily cause the oil oil pressure light to come on. I just wonder with your Astra if it suffered from a previous glorious lack of oil changing, and/or coolant entering the oil via. a head gasket issue - causing the oil to emulsify and eventually clog up the oil way. Mixing grades and brands of oil being a big no, no? This should not be an issue, or a cause of oil sludging in its own right. Although you should always use the recommended viscosity and specification as the first choice, with high mileage or worn engines it can be worth reconsidering alternative near-grades. Mixing same specification brands leading to blocked oil ways? Never yet come across this in over 55 years of motoring. Besides do the usual frequent fluids checks and tyre condition and pressure checks, probably the most important part of maintenance is to treat the vehicle to good quality oil and filter changes - it does reap rewards. So called long- life schedules? OK they have their place but for old fashioned me it's a 10k mile/ 1year job for me. Kind regards, Gareth.

  7. Have you got this sorted? When this happened on my A3 I did away with the over complicated arrangement that is present. I used some good quality silicone vacuum hose and took off the white connector with small o-ring and clip. I used some aroldite and pushed the silicon hoes up about 2 inches up the feed pipe and then the other end was an extremely snug fit over the other end which no longer needed the clip. Far more secure and no chance of leaking. Obviously this wont help if it's the shaft that is leaking through the wipe motor gear box. But even then it's a cheap part about £50-60 ish. :)

  14. Ok, so I have just voted for the RS6 from that list. There is something about that car that just amazes. However, Trevor Trevor Trevor, your title greatest Audi ever built!?! Audi 80 Quattro. It was such a controversial car in its day that changed the way many a car evolved throughout the decades. But, if the title said most awesome Audi, you vote would still be the RS6. 😜

  15. First up, sorry for such a long delay, it's been really busy at work and I've also been ill as well. But here are the pictures finally. Secondly I'm finding Audi's customer service to be quite poor, they sent me an MOT reminder telling me that I could have the MOT for £49.99 and a brake fluid change(which is recommended on the third year) for a discounted price, ring up to book it in to be told that there is no possibility to get it in before the 7th of September(I think it was the 7th might be later than that) but if I want to I can have it done at VW for £54.99 with no MOT protection. I just find it crazy as back when I had my Ford you ring up and 90% of the time they could get you in and usually at time/day that was convenient to you, they even once got me in and done on the same day as I went away for a week forgetting I was due an MOT and then panicked when I realized the MOT was due the next day(while still away) so popped into a local Ford and they done it while I looked round the town.
