  1. Hello P, Many thanks for updating the forum, and I understand the action you have taken, and it would seem that the dealer has been as accommodating as he can be with you. Again, I can only speak as if it were mine, and I would repeat my earlier advice, based on giving it a further trial test. This advice is based on the fact that you liked the car, and being realistic, any secondhand car is likely to have some issue/s which will need resolving. Still you now have an outcome which suits you, and that’s important. It’s starting to look again now then P. Kind regards, Gareth.

  2. Nope they all need air and the injector cycles are all controlled by that valve, open the butterfly to allow in more air the injector pulse for longer to match the air ratio in coming, shut the valve means less is being injected because of the lower airflow in coming. Steve.

  4. Hi Keith is correct, but you can help it all by using a good quality fuel additive take a look on the Hydra fuel additives site, I do a lot of short journeys [Cab] I use the Maximus additive as I find it ups the Cetane rating enough for the car to kick off a regen as soon as I do any run over three miles. Steve.

  5. Absolutely, the DPF can only regenerate if the engine has sufficient temperature for the burn to take place, this normally means 20 - 30 mins of high speed motorway running. It’s short journeys that block the DPF and cause problems so avoid too many. When I had a diesel any short journeys were done in the wife’s Suzuki. The regen can start at any time and there is sometimes a clue such as a sudden increase in fuel consumption as it squirts neat diesel to burn of the residue, or a funny smell or higher tick over. Not had a VAG diesel so these are generalisations rather than specifics. If you stop the car mid gen, then invariably the fans will continuously run cooling everything down, happened twice on my Mitsubishi. If you get the blocked DPF light then give it a long motorway run in a lowish gear to keep the revs up which will hopefully clear it. Your dealer can start a regen for you but obviously will charge you a considerable amount of money for the pleasure! Best advice is to pile on the miles, which is what diesels do best.

  6. Hi folks, I have a set of 4 x 17” twin spoke Alloys available, all good, straight, no welds etc otherwise I’d just scrap them, no major damage, (few scratches on all and one small scrape on one). I’d had them refurbished then swapped to 18” after about a year. Had them sitting around for ages now so free to anyone who wants them. also got an Allroad air suspension pump and refurb kit, again free to collector. Im in W-s-M near Bristol,

  7. Hello P-? Many thanks for being in touch with the forum. It is obvious by your description, that the car was actually - externally leaking - coolant, and being pessimistic, I think there would be little chance of anyone on here being able to diagnose the exact source of that leak without inspecting the car. Moving forward:- you certainly did the right thing by returning the car to the supplying dealer, and OK, they couldn’t replicate the issue. It is possible, just possible, that they did in fact find the source of the leak and fixed it. This is probably an over reaction, but when you pick it up and check the coolant level before starting it, have a look at the surface of the coolant in the reservoir to see it there is any evidence of any slightly metallic looking deposits floating on the top of the coolant fluid. If there is, this might indicate that a leak sealer has been added. I would think not, since you stated the leak was external, but…… If it were mine, I would then replicate your journey and obverse what happens. Irrespective, of the outcome, I would then be booking the car in to a trusted local independent and getting the coolant system tested - and reported on, if found to be at fault. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on P. Kind regards, Gareth.

  8. Hi Gareth Since Aug 2019, in that time it has done 17k miles with only 5k in the last MOT year. It is a great car, did you want to come and take a look? Or have a call and I can give you more details or a video call to look over if easier. Thanks Zak
