  2. Hi Gareth, at that milage the shocks are probably at the end of there service life if you take into account the tyre wear in the video, the shocks are oil over gas and don't have to leak to be knackered which is why springs break as they are doing most of the work and the damper unit is just following the spring about like a bored husband in a dress shop, I have always changed the shocks and springs on my cabs at around 120k and noticed a spectacular improvement in handling and tyre wear, example being my last MK4 Mondeo estate after switching to heavy duty shocks [Bilstein] and Kilen springs the ride was as sharp as a razor and stayed that way until I sold the car another 2000k later, I would also like to point out badly worn dampers increase your stopping distance by twenty feet from any given speed as the tyre is trying to grip with no gradual compression from the damper and spring, saw this at a trade show I attended and it made pretty grim viewing as you can have the best discs and pads available but if the rest is knackered the end result is the same, longer to stop. Steve.

  3. Hello Abdul, Thanks for being in touch. The car would appear to have given you good service. Apologies, but I’m a little confused as to why you have suddenly abandoned your local garage who have looked after your servicing and MOTs needs, and moved to an Audi main dealer for your MOT. Anything to do with any element of ‘offers’? Anyway, re. the now necessary repairs:- It sounds as if you are again intending to entrust these repairs to your local garage again, and that would seem to be a good move to me. Worn bushes and suspension arms? No debate in my book - replace the arms complete with new bushes, otherwise you are going to have to pay labour to remove and refit new bushes into your old arms - not economic sense. I would spend once and wisely and invest in Lemforder arms. You can buy these at competitive prices via. EBay search, but if you are a follower of a certain abbreviated to 3 letter on line factors who offer attractive discounts on so called retail prices, then you could find yourself buying one of their own brands at an attractive price! Um. If you are entrusting the supply of the parts to your garage, then beware that they may be enticed to buy the ‘best deal’ parts on offer from their local motor factors. For me, I see no reason to depart from Lemforder. Track rod end covers:- I’d simply replace the TREs as a pair - try Febi. Spring? Yes replace both, but get your garage to double check that one is actually broken! Shock absorbers - yes you can change them, but I would be tempted to give them a good coat of inspection, and leave them alone if not suspect. Hope some of this helps, Kind regards, Gareth.

  4. Hi Abdul, it looks like quite a shopping list you have developed there, I think changing the shock absorbers is a good shout as you will get your money back in record time with the extra milage out of the tyres as for the arms you can get poly bush kits but in all fairness they are three times the cost of the better quality arms, changing both ball joints makes a great deal of sense and as for the two grinning idiots on the video I think I would grin as well if I had just made my company that amount of money pro forma the shielding is a five minute job and a couple of self tapping screws, the tyres I pay what they want for one tyre for two good mid range tyres and believe me I know all about tyres as I run my A6 Avant as a cab, it might be worth buying all the arms and bushes upper/ lower as a kit off eBay at around £250.00 you can replace the lot. 5. The lenses can be refurbed and there are plenty of videos on YouTube. Regarding the adjustment screw this link might help: https://www.ttforum.co.uk/threads/mk1-tt-headlight-adjustment-screw.362505/ I've also found this listing on ebay for replacement adjustment screws: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-FRONT-HEADLAMP-HEADLIGHT-ADJUSTER-FULL-KIT-SCREW-BUSH-SET-/193542983849?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

  6. Thank goodness for that! Inflation isn't something they took into account. I do believe the country is being run by authoritarian chimpanzees. Actually that's insulting on chimps. Probably more like hyenas.

  7. Hi there you go, you have just unearthed a potential problem and cancelled out the one with the belt kit, please post your outcome as it helps others who may have similar problems and won't leave anyone else reading this wondering, I wish you the best of luck. Steve.

  8. Hi Phil Sorry to hear of your loss $$ but the moral of this story as with many others is if it aint broke don't fix it, I understand the obvious benefits of having the EGR mapped out as mine runs like a steam train when regenerating and the valve is jammed shut during that process, the thing you have to bear in mind is far finer minds than ours have developed these engines to run reliably with the given horsepower and that includes drive train components, as soon as you up the BHP It puts extra strain on the components and may cause premature failure of those components, last piece of advice, leave Mountune alone with your Focus and never darken the door of Mr Crutch again I learned the hard way as well, I wish you luck. Steve.

  9. My A4 has now been sold on.. the reason why..... When i got the car back from Mr clutch They said we have done all we can for you in replacing the new clutch with another under warranty & replaced the oil seals too & as the car was bought in in limp mode they have put that right too, they were still adamant about the end float on the crankshaft & said this is were your problems lies.. they got a measuring tool & videoed the end float & it was 6m & they could move the whole clutch flywheel in & out by hand & it was clanking i took the video into a garage that does audi.vw cars & showed the mechanic which he said was terrible & never seen anything like that amount of wear, they stopped repairing engines some years previous but said if i took to Audi main dealership they would only replace the engine which would be many thousands but if i could find someone who was capable of just repairing the bottom end that is if it was just the crankshaft & not anything more such as con rods or any other damage it would still cost up to £2000, anyway when i drove the car out of mr clutch it was terrible the clutch was banging on the sandwich plate the clutch was rather unresponsive & had to double the clutch to get the gears & the pedal was very soft. anyway enough is enough & we buy any car bought it as is for £13000, i know it was few 1000 less than the trade in price but i had to take the money & run as they say. my experience with mr clutch was disgusting to be honest & would never ever go to that branch again. I have now got a focus ST which is one year old with tiny mileage & loving it, I do love the audi cars but in the meantime i need to be free of problems. why i had all these problems which included new starter motor, thermostat & water pump, maybe this was all down to me getting the car remapped when i first bought it 3 years previous & the guy did not do the job properly..just a thought. phil
