  2. Hi I have the following MMI setup RMC_EU_P1342B. Can anyone tell me if it can be updated or upgraded please. The functionality is quite basic and would like to play movies. I'm not interested in swapping out hardware though.

Hi yes down the road when you are buying new Turbos every two years because they are burnt up and perhaps the occasional valve because they are burnt, the advent of EGR gave the manufacturer an outage on metal components for engines as they are now running 40% cooler therefore the components inside the engine don't have to withstand the thermal stresses that the older engines suffered as the old rule of thumb was the hotter they run the more efficient the burn and more power, trouble is the hotter they run the more Nox 1 they produce, everything is now designed to run cooler so the metallurgy changed with it.   4. Agree with Steve. Sorry if i'm teaching to such eggs. Try putting the key in fully without turning, wait 5 seconds. Turn the key once to switch on ignition (NOT start the engine), waiting for all the lights to go out, and wait another 5 seconds. During this time, the key is recognised. Hopefully the engine will start now first time. Just gives a few extra seconds for the key to be recognised.

  5. Tony I did some Googling with searches like audi carpet, audi trim etc and came across lots of posts and videos. I then found Socket Socket's youtube videos where he has 41 videos showing in great detail how he stripped the carpets and trim and doors; and how he applied sound proofing to his BMW. There are two videos showing how effective it was and it was magic. I haven't watched all the videos yet. It took him a long time - I am sure he said 6 days to lay the stuff in the cabin (number 35). It looks like he used Car Builders Sound Deadening glued direct to the metal, in some cases doubling it, in others laying four layers. He then applied mass loaded vinyl of two thicknesses (number 37) and? or? foam acoustic liner (number 34). Car Builders is an Oz company. Removing the Audi front seats seems dead easy - I saw videos Audi TT Interior Teardown and MK1 Audi TT: Remove The Carpet which showed exactly how. I doubt the A3 is much different.

  6. Thanks Guys, it is great to be part of a community like this. Yes NI only has one Audi dealer and I purchased the car through them. I had a very brief run through of the basic controls but was assured if I encountered any problem they were only a phone call away. Advice was take the handbook in one hand and experiment with the options as the best way to learn which I suppose has some logic to it. Anyhoo I am enjoying exploring my new toy and know I can always rely on the members of this site for help and advice.

  7. Hi Steve. I found a link on the forum on how to repair the secondary air pump using bolts to replace the rivets. I removed the rivets, they basicly fell out, then pushed the white seal back into place and fitted a bolts either side off were the seal was. That was 2 days ago and the car has run perfect ever since. It cost £1.32 for 6 bolts, nuts and 12 flat washers ! The next job is the cam belt, can anyone recommend some one near high wycombe, south bucks? thanks

Hi here are the pics of my box out, the driveshaft seal goes in hole in the gearbox diff housing I also included a picture of the reciprocating part of the diff, the exploded diagram shows the other possible contender marked in yellow that fits between radius shaft and the inner bore of the slave cylinder, the pressure plate and driven plate are industrial quality with regard too gripping there are only three things that cause slip, clutch master, contamination or just good old wear

  9. Original battery Kevin? If so, my starting point would be to first eliminate the battery condition as influencing the problems. Kind regards, Gareth.
