  1. A further and very interesting update - the dealership that carried out the initial service challenged the dealership I appointed to inspect the car, requesting proof of their diagnosis and reasoning, suggesting that it could have been something different. They provided the full report and diagnostic schedule and this morning I got a call..... They've admitted complete liability for the damage, acknowledge that the technicians involved tried to cover it up and lied, and they're sorting a temporary car and will repay all my hire costs to date. They want to carry out the repair themselves but I've stated I don't trust them and have no confidence. I've requested a detailed proposal from them for settlement - taking into account the personal impact, the finance payments on a car that's unusable for the duration, stress and inconvenience etc, after which I'll consider their offer to repair the car. I suspect once they look into all of that the first thing they'll do is send me an NDA to sign and make it conditional of their offer !

  3. No it is not normal. Any of the suspension or steering joints that have any slack whatsoever need to be replaced. Look too for broken springs, a loose steering rack, loose wheel bearings, and loose wheel nuts.

  4. Hi not entirely, if you use Hydra Maximus or Archoil 6900 D synthesis it keeps the whole thing cleaner read up about them on line, irony think a dirty glow plug will cause your problem I think its either a sensor or a clogged EGR/DPF but you won't know until its been scanned again after you have cleared the existing codes. 6. This thread really saved me!! Have a 2017 allroad a4. Audi didn’t want to know, told me to book a repair which was 5 weeks away. I managed to get the part £90 and with some reassurance from a local Audi specialist that it was an easy fix, decided that I was going to try and fix it. Well it was a 10 minute job, warning lights for brake servo and start stop all went off. It was £150 for Audi to put it through their computer which they HAVE to do funny enough. Word of advice - as soon as this brake servo warning comes on, find a safe spot and don’t drive it any more, you risk busting your ABS which is pricey. Thanks very much.

  7. Hi Roy time for a good run and a clear out I am afraid any diesel requires a good kicking every month or use of a proprietary fuel additive to keep them clean. Steve.

  8. Hi you are not useless, what you have to do is if you have a later version of VCDS it will give the scanning options of non UDS or UDS click on UDS aggressive mode and scan again when its finished go back to controller and then click on erase DTCs it will ask you if you really want to do this press yes and it will clear them wait ten seconds then press done and wait for it for two seconds while it confirms then shut down, if you changed the battery and did not re code it the battery will quickly die through overcharging, I rather think the car does no real milage per year so I would treat it to a bottle of Wynns DPF cleaner and give it run then scan it again. Steve.

  9. Hello Mathew, My suggestions will relate parts rather than procedures:- If you aren’t buying genuine VAG parts at discount, then I would suggest you buy Gates kits which will include belt, tensioner and water pump (if belt driven). As Kev says, EBay would be one source, but if I was in your situation, I would want to ensure that what you buy off EBay is not ‘old stock’ , since belts should be renewed every five years, and you could find belts may already be a couple or 3 years old before they are even fitted! I have used Car Parts in Motion to good effect and at reasonable prices, so it might be worth checking there. I would also renew the serpentine belt and tensioner at the same time. Hope some of this helps. Kind regards, Gareth.
