  1. Hi its the tie rod joints moving as the steering lock has no movement due to the fact years ago Fords and everyone else made the columns and locking tabs with a massive amount of movement this led to car thieves being able to rock the wheel from side to side and using sufficient force broke the locking tab, looking at the shocks they are eleven years old so age/milage would have done for them. 2. If you haven't fix it yet, I just did this morning, the issue is the actuator, (this actuator has 3 mechanical movements, and one electronic plug) the electronic is just for remote and buttons to activate it the mechanics are : - one is the wire that goes to the indoor handle is long as they need to go all the way to the indoor handle - the other a metal rod (shaped to fit obviously), thats the one moved by the outdoor handle - the third one is the one using the barrel, is connected to the actuator by a small compact spring ending on a flat metal piece, (this one fit on one of the corners of the actuator) thats the one i got misplaced and by that reason my key was not doing its job hope it helps by the way to remove the black plastic cover, you need to remove the rod that connect the outdoor handle so you have easier access to it to remove it advice!!, l remove the window frame because it helped me to work on it easier, I saw this video btw

  4. Don’t worry Cliff, we will be on to rotors (for brake discs), rocker panels (for sills), hoods (for bonnets) etc., etc. next as Google guides us across that vast water to the land of the Stars and Stripes! For me? - I too will stick with the correct British terminology, but I fear I’m getting too old for this. Kind regards, Gareth.

  6. Hi the tie rod comes as a sealed unit but it would probably be wise to change the Ball/End assembly where it joins the hub, with regard to the spring pans you will have to change the shocks or eventually the old pan will collapse and the spring launches down the shock and the spring end will machine the wheel and tyre to death, I know as I have experienced this disaster personally. Steve.

  7. I would say not, it'll need welding or replacing.
