  4. I have been very fortunate to have spoken to an Audi technician yesterday (friend of a friend). After explaining the issues fully, he thinks it is highly unlikely to be a battery issue and almost definitely a problem with one of the many MMI modules. Apparently these work in a loop so an issue with one, can cause the others to stop working properly hence the additional problems I am seeing. Because the first issue was lack of sound, the first thing that would need to be investigated would be the amp and they'd go from there. As mentioned earlier, car booked in on 24th so I'll keep this thread updated with the cause and what I eventually have to folk out to get it sorted. Fingers crossed I can afford to visit the pub again this year!!! Andy

  5. Thank you for the replies. It seems to be sorted (for now at least anyway). There was a loose bolt/clip which has now been tightened with the clip moved about 5 mm to its original position (based on the old marks on the clip from the bolt) and the key came straight out then. Touch wood all seems ok for now.

  7. You mean, you want it to sound more like a lorry, being a diesel. I don't think you would get it through an MOT without DPF, cats and EGR.

  9. As shown in the videos, the drain grommet was blocked by debris, so it’s not a bad design creating a ‘water trap’ but rather very poor or zero maintenance in that the drain grommets are never cleaned out so just block over time. most cars have similar problems if the drains are never cleaned out. sunroof drains are a classic for blocking. Peugeot 405/406 were plagued by that. Curtain rod to ‘push thru’ every couple of months kept them clear. the old A6 C5 version had a drain under the battery tray, so it was a monthly job to lift the battery and flush it out. The sunroof would flood the passenger footwell if the drains blocked. It’s something that’s never mentioned in either owners manuals or service schedules. As an engineer I consider it a procedural failure on the manufacturers part to not be stating the need to check all the drains are clear at the annual inspection/service they all insist on. But it would be nice to know where they all are!
