  1. We all get this , buy a car and start making it like you would like it, putting your own mark on the car etc. However every now and then you have to fix stuff that the previous owner did. Some is because its not to your liking , some of it is just plain crap and this is a perfect example. I remember the guy saying he had spent a lot of money getting the calipers refurbished and I even have a receipt from the garage. Well they have fleeced him something rotten as it was such a bad job. Spray painted whilst on the car and their masking was poor. And the cherry on the top ? They even painted the !Removed! brake pads !!! Anyway decided the only way to fix this was to remove the front calipers ( only hanging as I didnt want to bleed the brake lines) and clean and repaint but by hand with a brush. I have done this on my wife's Porsche cayenne so it wasnt new to me. First up the before shots with overspray, bad masking etc Fronts cleaned, degreased and hand painted, fresh pads. Then decals applied ( not so easy on these style calipers ) and back on Backs were a bit harder as I didnt have the tools to remove the handbrake lines so they were painted on the car and later I will replace the pads when they are worn All cleaned and painted and back on That is another job ticked off, onto the next which are the dodgy RS4 badges everywhere !!

  2. Hi the front bumpers will be the same on the estate as they are on the saloon, they have not got that finicky with the body parts yet and along as its a year either side of your one they should fit its only rear bumpers that are a bit different, give you an example I was after driveshafts for mine and most of the monkeys will say what side do you need when both shafts are exactly the same size but have a different letter at the end of the part number which is designed to scare the crap out of the average buyer as I said before the letters are just year designations. Steve.

  3. Hi Gareth I agree, To be honest I have been swaying to the same conclusion. Wishbone check tomorrow when I get my wheels off and tryes balanced gonna have a good look and foe the gear train service, as you say I was also expecting a few views from a few experienced forum members giving their thoughts and advice maybe even experiences? It's not that I have spare money to waste, just realise prevention is better than cure and certainly cheaper in long run..... but don't want to just do it for the sake of it if its not needed. Maybe another 10k before i spend it 😊 thanks again paul

  5. Day 6 22/09/22 So the Audi made it back to its birthplace today! We had a nice day looking around the museum and the dealership. The exhibits were great and on the whole staff were friendly. We were met with hostility by one staff member which was a shame. We didn't let this deter our day however. After going to the Audi museum we visited family living near Kronach which was great. Day 7 23/09/22 Today we went to visit Colditz castle which is steeped in history and was well worth a visit. We went on a guided tour and learnt a lot about the castle history and its use as a prisoner of war camp during the second world war as well as the various escape attempts. After this we drove onto our hotel and went to explore the city and had a lovely meal. Tomorrow we'll visit our last car museum on this trip - Volkswagen at Wolfsburg. Day 8 24/09/22 So today we visited Volkswagen at Wolfsburg and visited both museums. The site is the biggest by far and we got to see all the new and classic vehicles from all brands that Volkswagen owns including Audi, Skoda, Seat and Bugatti. There was also a car show that was on in the grounds which had various movie car replicas such as Kitt and the Back to the future Delorean. The site is incredible and we got to see the glass towers used for storing new cars. Tomorrow we're going to pay our respects at Mohne and Arnhem. Day 9 25/09/22 Today we had a lot of driving to do. 7 hours to be exact (not that we knew that at the time!). Our first stop was the Mohne Dam where in 1943 the RAF dropped the bouncing bomb that destroyed the Dam and killing 1300 people. Also known as the Dam Busters. After we had paid our respects there we went on to Arnhem in the Netherlands to visit the bridge that crosses the Rhine River, visit the museum and the war cemetery. The mission to take Arnhem bridge led to a massacre of British and Polish forces. After we paid our respects he headed on to our over night stop and best hotel of the trip. The famous SS Rotterdam, a former ocean liner/cruise ship converted into a Floatel. It was late when we arrived so we will explore the ship properly tomorrow. Day 10 26/09/22 So here it is, the final day of the trip abroad! As such it was more of a lazy day, where we went on the tour of the SS Rotterdam and saw the Bridge, engine room and other spaces which have been lovingly preserved or refurbished. The ship was stunning and has kept her 1950s charm. After the tours we had coffee and cake in the lido restaurant then headed for the hook of Holland where we were getting the ferry at 10pm. As we had time to kill we went to the beach and walked along the beach front before heading to the ferry early. Once on the ferry we got dinner onboard and then went to bed as we knew we had an early start in the morning. Day 11 27/09/22 So we disembarked from.the ship at 6:40am and drove the 3 hours home stopping along the way at Cambridge services for breakfast. Conclusion All in all we had a fantastic trip and made memories which will last a life time. I feel fortunate I've been able to tick this trip off my bucket list and take the Audi back to Germany for its 20th year.

  6. Thanks Steve, I’m taking it to an Audi specialist Thursday to see what comes up. Hopefully nothing serious. She said it was a bit harder to start this morning than normal, and it was colder and more damp than usual here. Light didn’t come on on the way home which is something.

  7. Hello Airgars, I thought sure I’d replied to your post, but it no longer shows. Anyway, you should be able to get an online valuation via. Parkers etc. It would also be worth checking with We Buy Any Car and other on- line buyers who will provide you with a bottom line figure. As with all ‘valuations’ they can only be taken as guides, and may not represent what a prospective buyer would be prepared to pay. Hope some of this helps. Kind regards, Gareth.
