  1. Thank you everybody for your suggestions. My son took the car today, to an 'old school' mechanic. He is the first chap that actually drove the car as part of the checks. He also remarked that it is not likely to be the throttle. He also mentioned that going over humps or breaking could cause an issue as there may be a small break in an electrical lead. Smoke tests are not always conclusive, he said. So, it could also be the leak issue although he did check the integrity of the hoses and sprayed around the engine for any changes to idle but found none. He did not charge for the tests, and has requested that the car be left with him on Monday probably for electrical issue checks? Hopefully, these dialogs will prove helpful to any poor soul that may experience such awful issues in the future. thank you

  3. Hi Shawn I have a Q8 55 TFSI bought from new in September 2020. So just over 2 years old. Also I reside in the U.K. and we don't very often suffer from very high temperatures here ! My brakes can squeak a bit, especially so when I haven't used the car for a few days, but not to the extent of the problem you are suffering I suspect. My wife and I are currently in the car in Deutschland touring. In the last 3 weeks we have covered almost 2,500 miles, driving from Calais France south to the Bavarian Alps in Berchtesgaden and then north again to Lower Saxony where we are staying at the moment. Half of those miles have beeen on the German Autobahns, many of them without any speed restrictions at all so average speeds can exceed over 100 mph. I will just say that the Q8 has performed superbly, mixing with the best that Germany can offer ! I think the car attracts a bit because they are still a very rare car in Germany....and perhaps the British number plate and U.K. sticker on the back is sometimes like a red rag to a bull to the odd few German motorists ! Regarding your particular problems re brakes.....mine have performed superbly with no squeaks and very little brake fade, even powering down quite rapidly from very high speeds on the Autobahn. So, my 2 penneth is that your Dealership is quite wrong regards the reason why you have brake noise and my advice is to pursue them further until they sort it out. Possibly a fit of new pads all round should be requested. Hope this helps a bit....and enjoy this wonderful car of ours. Frank

  4. Hi if you got that sort of dollar you might as well buy the real thing, had a Porsche 911 floating around my area with an uprated Alfa Sud engine in it, it was of course a fake and I was even less impressed when the owner showed me the engine explaining that he had to put a twin choke Webber on it to get it insured but it still had Autodelta billet high lift cams and reworked heads as well as an overbore to 1750cc, whats the point of all that money and machine work if you are starving it of air/fuel. Steve.

  5. Hello Andrew, Incase it helps, but it possibly won’t. If you’ve looked on EBay, I wouldn’t discount any mud flaps from China - just because China! I ordered a set for our non-Audi, and as I said in an earlier post - the fit and quality was equal to what would have been my expectations if I’d bought them from a main dealer at 3 times the price. Might be worth having a look on Alliexpress website. Not sure what they do for Audi, but… Kind regards, Gareth.
