  2. Hi it could be an ABS fault, you have done every basic so thats the last link in the chain considering Audi ABS units are notorious for failing, look on the ECU Testing website, VCDS would not show a fault as the units are only a partial monitoring for mega faults, only other thing to check is if its manual handbrake the n/s rear caliper could be sticking and as the system is a diagonal split it won't release the pressure on the o/s front caliper. 3. Hi I love things like this as it denies the Audi Stealers their lives blood, overcharging they probably get the filters for about a fiver each, they never change the filter and if left it causes all sorts of other problems, by rights an air filter should be changed every year regardless of milage as no one has microscope eyeballs that can see how blocked the filter medium pores are, think about it, more cleaner air so the ECU is not constantly correcting the injector factors to allow for the lack of it. Steve.

  4. Hi just an update about my steering rack. The part is totally not available neither new or second hand so ive managed to find a company to refurb it. They estimate 4 working days so cross fingers everything goes smoothly. Thanks to everyone for all your help and advice. Really appreciated.Thanks.

  5. I had an Oil Change and inspection service today and they wanted to add £89 for an air filter...errr... no thanks. A visit to GSF Car parts, £21 lighter and 20 minutes later job done. Thanks for the info, my filter and housing was very much like yours, never been done by the looks of it.

  6. Replaced mine this week after its Audi service. Surprise, surprise another thing not included in their 'service plan'. Anyway, they quoted £48 to supply and fit but I bought the filter myself from ECP for £25 and spent 10 mins to fit. I have very little mechanical knowledge and it's quite easy. Unclip Maf Loosen the pipes from holders on airbox Undo Torx Screws Remove filter Filter twists off, although after 5 mins of fighting thinking it was stuck there's a small tab which you need to press to release it. Hoover out airbox Replace via reverse. Pics of mine, not sure if ever replaced and the car was on 76k so well overdue by the look of it!

  7. Hi There, I recently noticed oil drops on my level driveway. On initial inspection; noticed the oil was dripping from the Front Lower Rear Control Arm bushing. I am still not sure whether these are oil filled or not. Anyhow, I have now taken the car to two different garages and both were not able to find any evidence of oil coming from anywhere else. The top of the bushing is quite dirty but does not have any oil evident. Seems to be coming from the bushing itself. The person at the workshop had a closer look into the bushing; the plastic piece on the bushing had cracks on it, but when we tried poking a small screw driver in the area; it didn't leak any oil - Not sure how these are constructed. The driver side also had cracks but there was no evidence of oil on that side. The oil is dark; and does not smell. The oil only leaks when the car is driven; Last week I didn't drive the car at all for 5 days; there was no evidence of oil on the driveway or on the lower side of the bushing at all. Is it correct to assume that the Control Arm bushing is leaking? Do they have oil in them? Either garage said that nothing else above is leaking as there is no evidence of it; some of the bushings are oil filled. Although they inspected the bushing themselves and there was no movement in them what so ever. It seems to be a bit of an inconvenience with the oil leaking on the driveway. Either garage did ask me if my driveway was at an angle, but because it is levelled it doesn't seem like oil is flowing from somewhere else as well, but again no evidence of oil above the bushing. Is it worth changing the control arms? Also is it worth changing both Driver and Passenger side at the same time or just change one.

  8. Thanks for the replies. Had a proper go today and it was pretty straightforward: Unclip MAF sensor Loosen circlip on air inlet pipe and pull away from filter housing Unclip 3 rubber hoses that are attached to housing Unscrew Torx screws on housing Wrestle filter and housing lid out of the gap Replace filter Reverse the above to reassemble

  9. Hi, I have an A4 Allroad 2017 with the same engine, mine has only done 18,000 miles as yet, but i will be changing the air filter myself when the time comes, there seems to be more things to remove when changing the filter on this engine, the best advice i can give, is to just take your time, and don't break any clips etc. i have always maintained all my Audi's myself, after all, if an audi mechanic can change it i'm sure you will be able to, best of luck. Brian.
